BioCentury reports on the topless dancers at a party at Royale for the recent BIO conference here in the Hub. While some were shocked and disgusted, one of the organizers said people should get over themselves, because the party is known for being "edgy and arty" and nothing says edgy and arty like half-naked women bearing corporate logos.

The Boston City Council today approved, 11-2, a proposed law that would bar investors from renting out apartments and condos on Airbnb and similar Web sites but which would let owners who live in two- and three-family houses rent out units 365 days a year. Read more.

Fireworks and Lucinda Williams concert

Patty got to watch both the fireworks Eastern Bank had shot off over Boston Harbor to celebrate its 200th anniversary and the Lucinda Williams concert at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion (anybody see them from the State Street building?). Read more.

Mass Live reports on Trillium Brewing Co.'s newest offering, which is called, no, not Keytar Beer, but Keytar Bear Double IPA. Part of the proceeds will go to the Bear, currently recovering from a motorcycle wipeout that left him with various injuries.

A federal judge today dismissed anti-trust charges against Uber brought by medallion cab drivers in Boston, saying the drivers simply showed no proof of predatory pricing or that consumers were hurt by the lower prices Uber brought to point-to-point transportation in the area. Read more.

Mob at IKEA

Our own eeka and family checked in this evening from Stoughton, where the checkout lines stretched to infinity and people were worrying they'd get out alive by 8 p.m. closing time today. With only four registers open (originally five, but the store shut one), she reports her wait, so far, has been about 70 minutes and that some people were getting trays of dinner and coming back to the line with them.

The Charlestown Patriot-Bridge reports on ongoing discussions between city and state elected officials, Massport and the BPDA over the fate of land on the Little Mystic that the then BRA rented to Massport for $1 for a 40-year period for use as the Boston Autoport, which started out as a place to receive cars being shipped to local dealers, but which now has office space for rent as well. Massport's lease on the land runs out next year.

UPDATE: Case dismissed.

In 2012, Benjamin Pershouse of Woburn bought a pair of slippers from L.L. Bean. But after a few years of use, "the rubber soles of the slippers began to flake off in large chunks." You can only imagine his shock when he tried to take advantage of the chain's famous lifetime, no questions asked guarantee on March 8 of this year, only to have a manager at the Burlington store turn up her nose and refuse to give him a new pair. Workers have been busy on Washington Street near West Roxbury Parkway revamping the drive-up Dunkin' Donuts as a plain Dunkin', part of the chain's longstanding attempts to get us to try more of its non-coffee/non-donuts stuff.
