Joe Kennedy III made it official today: He'll be running next year for the US Senate seat now held by Ed Markey. Shannon Liss-Riordan and Steve Pemberton are also running.

If Kennedy wins next year, he will be the third Kennedy to represent Massachusetts in the Senate.

Buzzfeed News reports on the bogus accounts - one named Donna Trumper, another Vinnie Boombatz - backing independent Shiva Ayyadurai and attacking incumbent Democrat Elizabeth Warren and Republican Geoff Diehl. Ayyardurai called the reporter a racist before hanging up on her.

The Herald reports that Geoff Diehl made the assertion during a debate with two other candidates who will also not be our next US senator, doubled down in the face of skepticism from both a moderator and his rivals, then, possibly realizing what that made him sound like, said he was just joshing.

A federal judge in Boston today agreed with a request from Senate candidate Shiva Ayyardurai to dismiss his lawsuit against Cambridge over its banning him from from parking his "Real Indian" campaign bus at his Concord Avenue headquarters, because the city rescinded the ban after getting proof Ayyardurai was not parking it there permanently, but was instead actually using it to go places. Shiva Ayyadurai, who is now running as an independent against Elizabeth Warren, filed a federal lawsuit against the city of Cambridge this week, alleging it is harassing him over his campaign bus now that it features the "resonating campaign slogan" of "Only A Real Indian Can Defeat The Fake Indian." V.A. Shiva Ayyadurai of Cambridge, who sues Web sites for disputing his claim that he invented e-mail as a 14-year-old, announced at a right-wing gathering in Washington yesterday that he will run against Elizabeth Warren for US Senate in 2018.

Ayyadurai (left in the photo) opened his campaign with an announcement at a party by a group called MAGA3X outside the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington. Read more.
