Help Ship Bicycles to Ghana- Village Bicycle Project

Friends,
There will be a bicycle loading from 10AM to 4 or 5PM on Saturday, July 7th, 2007 at building N of the Sam Adams Brewery Complex on Boylston Street (2 blocks south of Stony Brook Station). Those of you who know about Bikes Not Bombs also know that these shipments make a big difference in improving peoples lives with appropriate transportation and education. We have plenty of bicycles. We just need some able-bodied help in loading and packing this container. We'll take a break for lunch (pizza & salad) around 1PM. I'll see you there.

Our organization provides companionship to the low-income elderly without family and friends in Boston. The primary responsibility of the volunteer is companionship for low-income elders living alone in the city of Boston. Our elders are 70 years or older, live on less than $8,000 a year and have little to no friends or family.

Boston Shines On Beacon Hill Details

This Saturday is Beacon Hill's twice-annual Clean Beacon Hill Day. This spring, it's sponsored by the Beacon Hill Civic Association and the Beacon Hill Business Association, in conjunction with Boston Shines, a citywide effort led by Mayor Menino. Special thanks to Suffolk University and Store 24 on Cambridge Street for their involvement and support.

Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. until 2, neighbors will be all over Beacon Hill sweeping up. You can get equipment at one of four locations:
Myrtle Street Playground
Donahue Building, Suffolk University, on Temple Street

Help Katrina refugees this Sunday

This Sunday, September 18, Otto's Angels will collect items to be sent directly to refugee families in Louisiana.

The collection will take place from 9am to 3pm at Marty's Furniture, 99 Washington Street in Melrose (1/2 mile from the Oak Grove T station). They need donations of common household goods (toiletries, newly purchased underwear, bed linens, baby items -- see below for a full list). They also need volunteers that day to help collect and sort the donations.
