Brookline turkeys draw blood

Run! Run for your lives!

... Recently, the animal control officer encountered two male turkeys while conducting an investigation into a report of a wild turkey. He was attacked by these turkeys, requiring medical attention to his leg. It appears a resident had been feeding the turkeys.

Brookline Police ask all residents not to feed turkeys in their neighborhoods. If the turkeys have no food they will move on. They also advise residents not to leave children unattended in the yard near turkeys ...

Especially don't feed them after midnight.

Where is downtown Brookline?

Apparently following up on a Daily Free Press report, the Globe today discusses the issue of turkeys in "downtown Brookline" (the Free Press used the same phrase). Is that anything like Boston Village? Also, memo to Globe editors: Turkeys have been in Brookline for awhile now.

But bonus points for detailing a savage attack by one of the Beacon Street brutes on a poor woman from Dorchester - Should Boston start warning residents about travel to Brookline?

Bonus turkey report:
Mr. Gobbles is alive and well in Kendall Square.

Never feed them after midnight

Are we sure the Beacon Street turkeys aren't really gremlins?

... Last night, for the second time, there was a wild turkey on Beacon Street in Brookline blocking my way and forcing me out of the bike lane and into the street. ...

With photo of one of the increasingly gigantic beasts.

Hmm ... Think we could train them to eat rats?

It's only a matter of time before the terror turkeys of Brookline taste blood

John Gamel was there on Beacon Street last night as the driver of a Honda Civic made the mistake of getting out to check on the condition of the turkey that wouldn't let her through - cleverly falling into his trap so that he could start chasing her around the car just for the hell of it. And when the Brookline PD showed up, he just glowered.
