Wicked Local Brookline reports Town Meeting tonight banned the landing of manned aircraft in residential areas. What? Was somebody with a GE logo on their car spotted prowling around town? No, must be something else; the Globe reports the public helipad Boston wants to build for GE will likely be on a pier behind the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion on the South Boston Waterfront.

Oh, my, we haven't been keeping up with our wattled-hoodlum news of late, but then we saw this article about a turkey terrorizing the California city of Davis and got to wondering about fowl deeds closer to home. As usual, Wicked Local Brookline did not disappoint:

Someone called to report five turkeys were chasing a postal worker near the corner of Blake and Somerset roads.

The kosher market on Harvard Street in Brookline, shut since a two-alarm fire in July, reports it's passed all its inspections and will re-open at 10 a.m. on Sept. 7.

Owl rescued by T workers

The MBTA reports workers teamed up to help a dazed owl that butted heads with a trolley in Brookline last night.

The bird somehow came into contact with a Riverside Line trolley around 11:25 p.m. in Brookline Village, the T reports. Driver Hoa Tran got out, carried the bird off the tracks and to a bench at the station and radioed in for help. Read more.

Landscapers were trimming tree limbs outside the Herb Chambers BMW dealiership on Thorndike Street near Comm. Ave. around 3 p.m. when one of the limbs fell on a man walking by, WBZ reports. NECN reports he had blood coming from his ears.

Brookline Police report a fleet-footed thief who stole packages from apartment lobbies near Coolidge Corner wound up under a Sterns Road resident's bed before fleeing into Boston, where he tried but failed to evade the long arm of the law on Mission Hill. Read more.

The owners of Rubin's Kosher Restaurant on Harvard Street in Brookline announced tonight that they will be closing forever Friday afternoon.

Erica and Allen Gellerman did not say why they are suddenly closing one of the Boston area's few kosher restaurants, but said it was with "a heavy heart."

Brookline Police report a man thought he'd figured out a way to steal DVDs from local libraries: Get a series of library cards under bogus names - some for children for whom he was the alleged guardian - check out as many DVDs as he could for each card and then not return them. Read more.
