Dead bodies strewn about Main Street in Ayer

At least, during filming for a movie in which Ayer is a stand-in for a Pennsylvania town where escaping CO2 from a coal-mine disaster kills almost everybody.

Thanksgiving? What's that?

Scanning FM in the car just now, I heard Bing Crosby crooning a Christmas song. Yes, Oldies 103.3 has gone into all-Christmas mode just in time for Thanksgiving. Lin Dolin reports 105.7 thinks it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, too.

Let's all give a big hearty golf clap to WODS for its amazing self-restraint: Last year, they started in on this stuff on Nov. 6.

Fascinating: Nov. 13 is Leonard Nimoy Day in Boston

He's originally from the West End, where father Max was a barber. As boys, Lennie and older brother Melvin sold newspapers on the Common. No idea why the mayor's office chose Nov. 13 for Leonard Nimoy Day in the City of Boston, though (it's not Nimoy's birthday).

Friday Night fever in Harvard Square

Yeeha!

Kate Mitchell was in Harvard Square on Saturday when, for some reason, "Friday Night Lights," which is about Texas high-school football, decided to film a scene there. Star Aimee Teegarden (r.), graciously gives out extra 'e's to fans, with the assistance of co-star Connie Britton.

Kaitlin posts about how she became an extra in the scene and has more photos (via Beantown Bloggery).

A story by Brother Blue

Cambridge Community TV posts a video of his story of Ah.

NECN's report:

If you hear gunfire in East Boston today, chances are it's just from a movie

Boston Police advise there will be "simulated gunfire" at Sumner and New streets throughout the day today.

Worcester man sues city, Fox for $10 million over alleged "Cops" filming

The man, identified in his suit only as John Doe, claims that in 2006, a "Cops" camera crew accompanying some Worcester officers illegally broke into his house and filmed the cops arresting him as he lay in his bed, naked and cowering in fear. Read more

Ho, ho, ho, Green Saxophonist

Joel Brown writes up some award some saxophonist who went to Harvard is getting from the U, but, honestly, we couldn't read the post because we were too busy staring at the photo of the guy made up to look like the Jolly Green Giant. Only with a saxophone instead of a bag of peas.

Which station will go all-Christmas first?

What do you call 10 people bundled up in winter clothes on a boat in the Charles today?

Los Angelenos not used to 50-degree temperatures making a movie:

Chris Devers watched the moviemakers near between Watertown and Brighton today as they filmed some faux rowers for the movie about Facebook.

Nuns with guns shoot up the North End

Mary Pierce posts video of gun-toting nuns at Commercial Street and Foster Street as part of, naturally, Ben Affleck's roving art installation, Guns on the streets of Boston. Actually, it looks a lot like a lot of people milling around not doing anything much besides shooting guns, then the nuns show up, then everybody goes back to milling about, firing weapons.

Oops, did I just give the plot away?

Where would you put a movie studio in Boston?

As first reported here, councilors Murphy and Linehan want to look at building a movie production facility in Boston. The Herald reports developer Tim Pappas may already be on the case and scouting land off Summer Street past the South Boston convention center.

Jay Fitzgerald suggests the 500 block of Harrison Avenue:

... There's an abandoned brick warehouse/garage around there that has an old stately look to it – and I've always wondered why it hasn't been converted into a theater or condos or something. ...

I'd propose a third possibility: The old Stop & Shop warehouse off Neponset Valley Parkway in Readville. It's a huge, now mostly dormant facility, with plenty of room for expansion. It's not that far from 128 and it has its own rail spur for Tom or Ben's private train.

Readin' in the Rain: Reporting on the Boston Book Festival

Inclement weather notwithstanding, I'd say the inaugural Boston Book Festival is a success that must become an annual event. I think there has been an unquenched thirst for something like this in Boston, so let's hope that this year's launch is only the beginning. Read more

Two city councilors think it's time to build a movie studio in Boston

City Councilors Steve Murphy (at large) and Bill Linehan (South Boston, South End), plan a hearing to explore how to build a movie studio in Boston. Local movie production companies, the Mass. Convention Center, the Mayor's Film Bureau and the state Film Office would also be asked to participate.

A private company is currently building a movie and TV production complex in Plymouth.

Wheelock to stand in for Harvard

Sam Baltrusis reports the Fenway school is being cast as the World's Greatest University in Justin Timberlake's movie about Facebook:

Crews spent the afternoon of Monday, Oct. 19 covering the college stand-in with fake snow.

For a touch of realism, they should then line the neighboring streets with chairs and fake broken end tables.

Fairey admits he's a lying liar

Joel Brown has the deets on the ICA fave and his ongoing lawsuit with Associated Press over that Hope photo:

... In an attempt to conceal my mistake I submitted false images and deleted other images. ...

'You're gonna follow me in the city of Boston. Welcome to hell."

The Daily Free Press reports officials don't know what caused the man to die at Tuesday night's concert at the Agganis Arena.

How much do you think it would cost to rent the Zakim for a party?

The Globe reports that Tom Cruise has rented out the Zakim for Sunday so he can land a helicopter on it. Alas, no word on how much it costs to inconvenience motorists like that, but, hey, I bet we could crowdsource the fee and have a heckuva party, just like one of those vodka ads where they fill a swimming pool up with foam cubes and jump in.

Why not a Real Housewives of Boston?

With the announcement of a "Real Housewives of DC," Boston Family LIfe is starting to feel left out:

... I don't know about you, but I would be very curious to find out about what goes on behind those curtains in some of those houses with the view of the Charles River, and a terrace on top of a garage. ...
