Jo dishes on the Publishers Clearing House-like way Google descended on her house with two cameramen, a sound guy, two producers and a technician to install the boatload of networking and computer stuff she's getting for a year to go along with the $100,000 Google Adwords campaign she's getting as one of five small business owners across the country. Oh, and a consultant to show her how to save energy on all that equipment.

Wicked Local Arlington reports on the aftermath of Travis Corcoran's "1 down, 534 to go" blog post:

APD Capt. Robert Bongiorno said the department took his statements made in the blog as a credible threat and took precautionary measures. The weapons were seized Jan. 13.

For the past few months, Dan Kennedy had been running Google ads. He was just at about that point where Google was actually going to send him money when they cut him off, for "invalid activity." Google won't tell him what that actually means, aside from the fact that he won't be getting any money, so he wonders if maybe the state attorney general's office would be interested.

Travis Corcoran, the president of Heavy Ink, an online comic book retailer based in Arlington, Massachusetts and apparently a complete idiot, had some particularly moronic pseudo-anarchistic thoughts about the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords that he posted on his blog, and the blowback from the comics community is already being felt.

Smart People On Bad Days provides serious advice in language not geared to the "Dear Abby" set, and it's written by a local Jamaica Plain author.

A pair of cartographers are starting a blog about mapping Boston:

In its geographical form Boston is, for lack of a better word, unique in this country. ... Culturally and physically speaking, it is an eminently mappable city. And I've witnessed the pride in the city that can be inspired by maps that speak to the character of Boston. This is part of my motivation in creating this site.

"Bostonography" could mean a lot of things, but my idea of it is maps and graphics that describe Boston and life in Boston, and the underlying stories about the city.

The state court system would treat bloggers as members of the news media under a proposed rule that would give them the ability to photograph trials and certain other court proceedings, just like reporters for mainstream media outlets.

The "Electronic Access to the Courts" rule, now under consideration by the Supreme Judicial Court's rules committee, would also let bloggers, other online journalists and traditional reporters use their laptops or smartphones to liveblog from inside courtrooms.

I have a new "game" I'm playing at work. Each day when I go out to buy lunch at the local Trader Joe's or Whole Foods, I'm buying one extra item.

My office building, like many others, is participating in a food drive for Thanksgiving in support of the East End House effort to hand out turkeys with all of the fixings this holiday season to people in need.
