I am starting a new blog in memory of the 24 year old woman who was killed on her bike the evening of August 9, 2010 in Brighton, MA. This blog is not for those who wish to disect the accident, judge the driver or the victim or any other comments that are in any way insensitive to this unfortunate occurance. This is simply to offer ones consolences. I would like to start by saying that I witnessed the entire accident from start to finish. I am deeply saddened for those who knew this young woman and my heart, my thoughts and my prayers go out to her family and her friends.

No, not Matt Amorello. A local blogger. Christine Koh reports a Herald reporter called her yesterday to ask about that court ruling on maternity leave. By itself, no big deal, since she's pretty well known in local mommy-blogger circles. Except the reporter called her on her home phone number.

David at Blue Mass Group reports on a weird report out of Nigeria in which a columnist compares Our Sal with some corrupt pol of theirs (who knew Nigerians followed Massachusetts politics so closely?), including the alleged fact that DiMasi helped start Blue Mass Group, which then helped make DiMasi speaker, or something (alas, as David discloses, the truth is far more boring; read the column anyway, if only to savor the use of the word

Some Web site for rich people is looking for somebody "already entrenched in the luxury lifestyle in the town" to churn out 25 to 30 blog posts a month about "the luxury lifestyle" in Boston. Pay isn't mentioned (that would be crass), but you will get the "opportunity to make a ton of high-end contacts."

Ringgold Park is located off of Waltham Street in the South End, between Washington and Tremont Street. After initially encroaching upon the Monday evening Salsa lessons held outside the Balckstone Community Center; where I honestly hesitated at the thought of participating in this festival of Summer residents frolicking to Latin rhythms, I continued on to my planned destination.

AOL's Patch hyperlocal network is advertising jobs for editors of new sites in Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Charlestown and the South End, as well as all of Boston, according to postings on the AOL corporate site.

The incursion is a full scale attack on, well, almost nobody, since boston.com has yet to set up a single Your Town hyperlocal site in the city it's named for. The South End News does have a longstanding site, unlike the Back Bay Courant, which doesn't get this InterWebs thing.

You get to have somebody else wax your underarms and apply deodorant for you. Hmm, why am I thinking of what John Gielgud said to Dudley Moore in Arthur?

The state's judges and mainstream media are considering whether to change rules, adopted in 1998, that govern how cameras can be used in courtrooms during trials. Well, and now me - I've been asked to join the committee that will make recommendations to the Supreme Judicial Court, which has the final say.

The rules, which seek to balance the public's right to know with the rights of defendants and other people in the courtroom, and with preserving decorum during trials, did a decent job ten years ago, when only bigfoot media organizations ever seemed to cover court proceedings.

Beth reports meeting several Hall of Famers at a conference, including Pudge Fisk. And when she told her father:

... "Oh, yeah," said my dad, the guy who raised me, the guy who introduced me to the Red Sox, the guy I've been to and watched dozens of games with, and who had never, apparently, thought to tell me this -- "I used to share a locker with him up at the Nashua YMCA when me and Uncle Donny were playing racquetball back in the 70's."

Mike Mennonno reports on being asked and then un-asked to be a voice from the community:

... Frankly, I feel a little bit like the girl who got invited to the prom as a cruel joke in one of those early '80s "After-School Specials." Or Carrie.

The focus seems to be on Connecticut, but the Caldor Rainbow is for you. And yeah, it's a pity the Bradlees sign off Cummins Highway in Roslindale finally came down a few months ago when they remodeled the Stop & Shop.

DrinkBoston is the best blog in Boston, as judged by Phoenix readers:

Any enthusiastic Beantown imbiber has doubtless stumbled on DRINKBOSTON, this year's well-deserved pick for the city's best blog. Written and run by journalist Lauren Clark, an experienced taproom denizen, both behind the bar and in front of it, DrinkBoston is as comprehensive an examination of the art of drinking as you'll find.
