A friend who is a local with us at the Dogwood Cafe in JP has gone missing in Braintree. I'm reaching out to the Universal Hub community in the hopes that someone reading might be able to help in some way.

Jeffrey Adam Phillips has been missing since Friday July 24, 2009. He was last heard from via a cell phone call with a friend and his mother around 7:30 PM and he was at his house. Jeff had plans to meet his mother Saturday morning but was never heard from.

The Herald reports that when a Boston police captain bought six shopping carts full of toys to give to kids at Bromley-Heath, a Boston Police family-assistance unit wanted to make sure she was OK and not suffering emotional issues related to health problems. But when she didn't answer the door of her Braintree home, police called out a SWAT team and locked down the neighborhood.

Jason reports that yesterday, the South Shore Plaza held a trick-or-treat thing for little kids and that everybody seemed to be participating except for the Godiva chocolate store - which he discovered when he was in there and some kids came in and went "trick or treat!" and the clerk told them they weren't participating:

... At first, I found it funny and ironic, but then I realized how idiotic and stupid the folks from Godiva were. Instead of being the store that handed out the best trick-or-treating candy in the mall - a great PR move with nominal costs - they instead became the fancy candy store that refused to give away candy to kids on Halloween.

When they had the opportunity to give candy to both the kids AND their parents - the ones with the wallets and pocketbooks who will soon be searching for holidays gifts - they created an entirely memorable yet unfavorable experience. ...

Suzie can't figure out why gazillionaire wounded soccer player Beckham chose to eat at the Cheesecake Factory at the Braintree mall:

You're so freaking close to Boston; just be chauffeured in a bit more, explore our city, and at least go to the Cheesecake Factory in the Prudential, if your craving for it is really that big. Real-life Charlies could not get off of that train

Last month, Jenny reported on a horrifying incident involving, among other things, a door on a Red Line car suddenly opening while the train was moving.

Now John reports the opposite problem on a train at Braintree: The doors on their car wouldn't open and they watched everybody else get off the train and finally they pushed the alarm button, but all that happened was some angry T employee opened the door from the other car, yelled at them for pushing the button, then left - locking them in again. Fortunately for them, a nicer T employee came by a couple minutes later.

Sarah must have missed the circular about "All against All" Day at the mall, because when she went yesterday, it was one long struggle of kill or be killed. One example:

Carpundit is pretty sure the guy at the Braintree split was dead because you don't lie with your nose pressed into the pavement in the middle of a highway (the Globe has a brief about the fatality today, but it doesn't seem to be online).

Did the T get a discount on dollar coins or something?

Hey, braintree T station, if your going to give me fucking dubloons in return for your stupid T cards, you should at least be able to break a 20 in the booth so I don't come home as the proud new owner of 17 dollar coins, I feel like a god damn pirate ...

The kidlet and I drove down to Braintree today to get a new camera (read all about why I told her to kick me the next time I propose going to a CompUSA). We were in Dedham, which meant we needed to head north, so naturally we got on Rte. 128 south. We were supposed to get off at Exit 17 on 93. We passed Exit 13. Oh, good, we're getting close. The next exit? Exit 2A, of course. We found the place anyway.
