WBZ tackles the problem of bars over-serving in eastern Massachusetts--not everybody is impressed.

Michael Page alerts us that CBS is getting ready to smush all its Boston stations (Channel 4, WBZ 1030, Channel 38 and 98.5) into a single CBS Boston site with local news, sports and service-y type stuff all wrapped up under an emphasis on the CBS-ness of it all - four years after Channel 4 started calling itself WBZ again instead of CBS 4 Boston.

Channel 4 reports Henning died last night after a long illness.

Henning covered every statewide election in Massachusetts since 1962, and every Boston election since 1963.

He won numerous awards for his reporting on the Boston gangland wars in the 1960s, the search for the Boston Strangler, the Boston busing turmoil of the 1970s, and state budget problems.

I wake up every morning for the CBS Morning News @ 4:30am with Michelle Gielan, 'til I found out that the WBZ-TV 4 Morning News is on now at 4:30am with Paula Eben and David Wade. WTF! I thought I'd woke up late but it will now replace the CBS Morning News from now on, every morning first before all the local news media outlets in the City of Boston. How will WBZ-TV make your morning before "NewsCenter 5, 7 News Today In New England and Fox 25 Morning News?" I'm a big fan of WBZ-TV News 4 anyways.

No doubt there's more to this story, but if you're part of the New Busy, who has time to read everything? So thanks, WBZ-TV, for this:

The cat who got her head stuck in a storm drain in Norfolk on Wednesday has been reunited with her owner.

But they wish him well as they send him away.

Channel 4 reporter David Robichaud tweets:

Just saw a wino with a paper bag over a tube of Crest.

Keller tries to make a point about western Massachusetts, but fails miserably because he has no clue where western Massachusetts starts. Lance lends him a clue: It's not Leominster or Fitchburg.

Channel 4 runs an AP report about some guy from Boston being charged with torching a Buffalo police cruiser. As the Buffalo News reports, that's the town of Boston, NY, which has a population of 7,897 (might be going to to 7,896 soon?), about 20 miles south of Buffalo.

UPDATE: The story's gone from wbztv.com.

Mish Michaels signed off Channel 4 for the last time last night, but she's promising lots of weather on her new Web site.

By adamg - 7/15/09 - 1:33 pm

Jeff Larson, watch out: Channel 4 tweets that the former anchorwoman is coming back - as a morning traffic reporter.

By adamg - 7/3/09 - 9:39 am

David Robichaud actually asks which is driving you nuts more: Non-stop coverage of Michael Jackson or non-stop coverage of the rain? Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to allow for a third answer: Both.

LeVeille isn't on WBZ 1030 this week and some anxious fans are wondering.

UPDATE: Just heard from one of those people in A Position to Know, who says there's nothing sinister going on: LeVeille had a cold last week and now he's on vacation: "He hasn't been purged again!"

Channel 4 has some of the best promos:

By adamg - 5/22/09 - 9:57 am

Take this headline on Channel 4's Web site (please):

Beached Whale On Cape Has Gigantic Swollen Tongue

Ed. blecch note: If you actually click on that link, one guess what'll be the first thing you see.

Michael Page details how WBZ and WFXT will start sharing resources - like a helicopter and, eventually, videotaping of press conferences and the like. Page adds Channel 4 is hopeful other Boston stations will join the arrangement, which one supposes could eventually mean six reporters providing different narration for the same exact footage, at least until the news directors realize that's pretty wasteful and decide to fire everybody on staff except for one camera person and an intern. Or something.

Thanks to JohnWBZ's Twitter feed, you don't really have to watch Channel 4's report on the Tobin Bridge:

Ron Sanders is answering the question: When will all that construction be done on the Tobin Bridge? Short answer: never.

Because, really, what more do you need to know?
