Somebody got his hand stuck in a Red Line door at Central, somebody else pulled the emergency cord and, boom, instant delays that led to people piling up at stations up and down the line as T workers set about opening the door and re-setting the brake, or whatever it is they do after somebody pulls that cord. At least we know it works.

Cambridge Police report a Dorchester man was stabbed and chomped at Bishop Allen Drive and Douglas Street after he took umbrage to a remark one of two guys out in the street made about his wife around 2 a.m. today. Read more.

A man who robbed the Cambridge Savings Bank at 630 Mass. Ave. in Central Square around noon tried escaping on the Red Line.

That was a mistake, police say. Read more.

An inbound Red Line train is being held at Central so police can look for a guy who other riders reported might be holding a sword - even if he's not apparently doing anything threatening with it. The result for other riders is "moderate" delays.

UPDATE, 1:47 p.m.: The sword was plastic. Police told him to be more careful with his toys in the future and Red Line service was set to resume.

Cambridge Police report a man is under arrest for an incident around 8 a.m. that started as a fight in Central Square and ended with one combatant pistol whipped and his fellow fighter dragged behind a car for several blocks. Read more.
