Great Runs in Brookline

With the arrival of spring and the approaching Boston Marathon, a new book on wonderful local running routes, Great Runs in Brookline, has just been published. Geared toward recreational runners and walkers, the book features more than 25 "themed" runs through Brookline's great neighborhoods, ponds, parks, and pathways. Boston Charity Walk Season

It's charity walk season here in Boston, and that means every weekend, some part of the city will be shut down, causing major traffic and mobility headaches.

I think there is a better way...charity walks, extortion style.

10 Week "Walk To Run" Program

When: Begins Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 7:00 PM
& meets every Tuesday for 10 weeks!

Where: Melrose Knights of Columbus, 23 West Foster
Street, Melrose, MA.

Goal: To run continuously for 30 minutes at a comfortable pace!

Pre-requisites:
* Desire to learn how to run!
* Able to walk for a duration of 30 minutes!
* Good physical health (consult with your physician before beginning this exercise program)!

Cost: $30.00 includes a ONE year individual
membership in the Melrose Running Club!

Sharon checks in from a conference on making greater Boston more friendly for pedestrians and bicyclists. She points to the Boston Bicycle Planning Initiative, which is working with both MassBike and WalkBoston to make the Hub more walkable/bikeable. She doesn't note that the group's URL, BikeTheHub.org is a way cooler name.
