Transit Police report they've arrested a 17-year-old on a charge of assault with intent to murder for a stabbing late Saturday at the Franklin Street entrance to the Downtown Crossing T stop. More arrests expected, police say.

WBZ reports an 18-year-old man was stabbed at the Franklin Street entrance to the Downtown Crossing T stop around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, and that police are looking for an even younger suspect.

If you remember these sounds, you probably remember Zoom Telephonics, one of the early leaders in dial-up modems. Turns out the company's still around and headquartered on Franklin Street, although it now sells cable modems, which don't make any sounds, under the Motorola name. And it's expanding: It announced yesterday it's buying an Internet-of-things vendor for $30 million.

Free Guy scene set on Franklin Street, with flames, helicopters and missiles

The trailer for "Free Guy," in which Ryan Reynolds plays a bank teller who begins to realize he's a character in a shoot-em-up video game, dropped today, and it features lots and lots of scenes in downtown Boston (and one under the Zakim in Charlestown) - although oddly it starts with somebody skydiving over what looks like Pittsburgh. The Boston Fire Department reports a fire in a basement electrical room at the Langham Hotel around 1 p.m. generated a large amount of smoke and went to two alarms before it was knocked down. Read more.

Franklin Street with more space for pedestrians

City planners are looking at widening the sidewalks at Franklin and Arch streets to create a new plaza. This morning, the Boston Transportation Department blocked off part of the street and set out some free coffee so people could look at possible designs for the plaza while traffic engineers scrutinized the impact on car traffic.

Anita Lauricella took a stroll around the temporary plaza.

The FBI's Bank Robbery Task Force released a photo of the guy it says robbed the Eastern Bank branch at 63 Franklin St. around 4:15 p.m. on March 26.

He's described as white, about 50, 5'8" to 5'10" and 160 to 180 bls, with some facial scruff and a fondness for bulky gray hoodies.

Franklin Street shut

Police blocked off Franklin Street around 1:20 p.m. due to a couple of suspicious items in a white SUV parked outside 260 Franklin St.

Boston Police report arresting a pair of men on charges they beat two other men early Sunday in the Financial District, just not badly enough to keep their victims from getting up and chasing them.

Police charge local Brian Dunphy, 21, and pal Matthew Kehoe, 21, of East Milton, jumped a couple of guys around 2:20 a.m. in Post Office Square, apparently for no particular reason.
