... Ty Pennington's Bus barreled down Elm Ct and stopped in front of the house and the family ran outside in a gently falling snow, psyched beyond belief that they had been chosen. They are well deserving. Their story is in my post from August. ... Low water mark

The relative lack of rain over the past few months has meant lowered water levels in a pond near the old Digital mill in Maynard - to the point where a series of old wooden supports have resurfaced. Jeff Darcy finds some 1916 photos to explain what they supported and takes an awesome photo of the structures and the mill.

Steamy lingerie

Adrienne LaFrance reviews a show out in Maynard by sculptor Ingrid Goldblum Bloch's, in which one piece consists of metallic lingerie with vegetable steamers where the bra cups would normallly go:

Maynard high school students vs. California religious broadcaster

Maynard High School has long had a unique asset - a radio station (on the air since 1974). WAVM-FM let students practice community journalism long before anybody had coined that phrase - as well as get radio training.

Now it's under attack. The FCC has not only rejected the station's bid to increase its power (from 10 to 250 watts; WBZ-AM is 50,000 watts), it may let a religious broadcaster from California set up a station on the same frequency in Lunenburg. Scott Fybush details the issues and questions surrounding the case.

Jon, meanwhile, looks at the story as a case study in community journalism - will bloggers do a better job following the story than the mainstream media? He's finds bloggers (including Universal Hub) seriously wanting.
