So this guy who's really fascinated with buses thought it would be cool to follow an old T bus to the end of the line - to the plant in Everett where they're shredded and put on a barge on the Mystic River. He missed the No Trespassing sign:

... "Yeah Sarge,he is a busnut...I looked at the photos on his camera,nothing but buses"

He said also "Don't be surprised if the Department of Home land Security checks you out" ...

Guy in motorized wheelchair hit by truck

Angela reports watching one of Everett's squadron of Rascal riders getting plowed into by a small box truck at a Rte. 16 intersection yesterday:

... All of a sudden, my boyfriend screams, "Oh shit!" and I instantaneously hear a loud bang. I look to my left and, I kid you not, see a very large man in one of those Rascal scooters being hurled into the air after getting hit by a truck. ...

Luckily, she adds, there was an ambulance right behind the truck and the guy seemed more dazed than anything else.

Union members followed the MWRA crew to their next job on Fenno Street in Revere, where a city police captain refused to allow the crew to do their work.

"Your plan is faulty and we're not going to allow you to work,” Revere Capt. James Guido told MWRA Chief Operating Officer Mike Hornbrook, who accompanied another worker today.

Another day, another school lockdown

Today, it was Everett High School gettting the all-hands-on-deck media treatment.

Perhaps Cambridge Rindge and Latin administrators could explain what they're doing differently. According to Cambridge Police, back on 12/7:

State Police Dispatch Center received a call that there was a bomb at Cambridge Rindge and Latin and Somerville High. The school was evacuated and checked out and nothing was found. Students were out of class for only about 15 minutes.

The Outraged Liberal wonders how the editors of a paper called BostonNow decided to lead with the Omaha shooting rather than the fireball that incinerated an Everett rotary:

... Memo to staff: Everett is a working class community in the Boston area. Omaha is in Nebraska. Nebraska is not Massachusetts. ...

BostonNow editors did discuss the Everett story at their Wednesday story conference, at least.

I agree with Dan Kennedy: local media outlets did a great job, especially online, with their coverage of the rolled-over tanker truck (well, except for the Everett Independent and the Everett Advocate, which should take down their Web sites in shame). Unlike with the Danvers explosion a year ago, there hasn't been a ton of coverage from local residents (stupid self-obsessed side note: I need to stop using "[Name of town] goes boom" as a headline on posts about big explosions).
