Union members followed the MWRA crew to their next job on Fenno Street in Revere, where a city police captain refused to allow the crew to do their work.

"Your plan is faulty and we're not going to allow you to work,” Revere Capt. James Guido told MWRA Chief Operating Officer Mike Hornbrook, who accompanied another worker today.

Today, it was Everett High School gettting the all-hands-on-deck media treatment.

Perhaps Cambridge Rindge and Latin administrators could explain what they're doing differently. According to Cambridge Police, back on 12/7:

State Police Dispatch Center received a call that there was a bomb at Cambridge Rindge and Latin and Somerville High. The school was evacuated and checked out and nothing was found. Students were out of class for only about 15 minutes.

The Outraged Liberal wonders how the editors of a paper called BostonNow decided to lead with the Omaha shooting rather than the fireball that incinerated an Everett rotary:

... Memo to staff: Everett is a working class community in the Boston area. Omaha is in Nebraska. Nebraska is not Massachusetts. ...

BostonNow editors did discuss the Everett story at their Wednesday story conference, at least.

I agree with Dan Kennedy: local media outlets did a great job, especially online, with their coverage of the rolled-over tanker truck (well, except for the Everett Independent and the Everett Advocate, which should take down their Web sites in shame). Unlike with the Danvers explosion a year ago, there hasn't been a ton of coverage from local residents (stupid self-obsessed side note: I need to stop using "[Name of town] goes boom" as a headline on posts about big explosions).

Angela works at a newspaper in Everett, on the street where the tanker blew up. She posts photos her boss took and notes:

... All I can think of is I hope the gas company that employed the tanker driver has some really good insurance because I got three new ads this morning from lawyers addressed at the fire victims. I think that's a good indication that it's not going to be pretty. ...

The Web site for Britney Place, an Everett condo project, claims it is:

4 minutes by car to Boston's North End neighborhood of restaurants, cafes, shops

Some Assembly Required, who lives right near the project, begs to differ:

... I can absolutely guarantee you that it is completely impossible to drive from Britney Place to the North End in four minutes, even under totally ideal road conditions. ... I'm fairly confident that you could drive from Britney Place to the Gateway Plaza (Target, Costco, Home Depot, lots of other fun stuff) on Route 16 in four minutes, but I guess that wouldn't have seemed as comparably glamorous a selling point as the North End. ...
