Weber King got caught in the "total chaos" exiting the first Garden event since the T entrance on that side of Causeway closed, forcing thousands of people to cross the street to get to the subway:

The Boston Licensing Board on Thursday considers whether the Stage Nightclub, 19 Boylston Pl., shares any responsibility for a November melee that left one of its servers lying on the floor, drenched in the champagne one angry patron had thrown at her, as other angry patrons grabbed her by the hair and pounded her head against the floor. OK, to be accurate: 900,000 photos of the Boston skyline, and another 150,000 of the Cambridge skyline, all taken from the same spot in Cambridge over a five-year period.

Adrian Dalca took all those photos from a window in an MIT (of course!) residential building. Naturally, he's now trying to figure out what to do with them all: Read more.

Globe newsies

Photographer - and social reformer - Lewis Hine spent a fair amount of time in Boston in the early part of the 20th century capturing the often horrible condition of children. Among the kids he photographed were newsies, including this group of Globe hawkers with Sunday papers at 5 a.m. one Sunday in 1909.

Boston Police report an Everett man began punching an officer in the face around 2 a.m. New Year's Day - and then began screaming about the end of the world as other officers rushed to restrain him.

Waiting for a bus instead of the Blue Line downtown

Just in time for rush hour, the T has shut the Blue Line, because something isn't right with the tunnel between State Street and Aquarium, as in a metal grate falling from the ceiling onto the tracks.

Buses are now running between Bowdoin and Maverick, after a fashion. Alex Martland reports:

This is going swimmingly. No signs, no one knows where to stand... Blue line gonna blue line.

Copper thief wanted

UPDATE: BPD reports that steely-eyed Transit Police officers spotted and arrested Matthew LaChance, 32, of Swansea.

Boston Police report they are looking for a guy they say stole $20,000 worth of copper welding cable from a Nashua Street construction site. Read more.

The Ladd Observatory takes some time to tell us about how clocks in the Boston area used to be calibrated with the dropping of the daily noon time-ball from the roof of a downtown building, first a long-gone building at Devonshire and Milk and later from what is now the Ames Hotel at Washington and Court streets.

The MBTA is seeking bids from companies that might want to lease 400 square feet of space on the Green Line level of the Government Center stop when it re-opens this spring.

City Hall Plaza became the focus today of a protest against the Ethiopian government's attempts to take land owned by members of the Oromo ethnic group.

Amnesty International reports 40 people have died during government crackdowns on protests in Ethiopia. Read more.
