Veggie pide

Veggie pide.

Close your eyes. Imagine a sunny corner cafe with tiny outdoor tables, where there are always people milling about and chatting. A place that is open until 3 in the morning six days a week. The space is small, but the staff is neighborly and attentive, the menu is full of items you won't find anywhere else, and the bakery cases are full of colorful treats.

Sultan's Kitchen and the Boston Kebab House will soon be joined by a third Turkish takeout place, in the alley next to Old City Hall.

Osman Kiramoglu, who started the Boston Kebab House, told the Boston Licensing Board this morning he wants to branch out at 8 City Hall Ave. - with Cafe Hemshin. Kiramoglu is seeking hours of 6 a.m to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The board votes tomorrow on his request for a food-serving license.

Adam Bezigian will go back to Istanbul'lu:

This is no hole-in-the-wall falafel "palace" or generic Mediterranean restaurant. This sort of food is what I tend to cook when I'm thinking only of feeding myself, and that jived with me. Istanbul'lu is beautiful Middle Eastern home cooking with its feet firmly planted on the ground.
