Colin Young reports a bludgeoning death tonight in an apartment at Tremont and Cunard streets. Brian D'Amico reports at least one of three suspects is in custody.

UPDATE: Boston Police report the victim was in his 50s and pronounced dead at the scene. "The preliminary investigation indicates that this was not a random incident."

The Bay State Banner reports on the latest plans for the Ferdinand building in Dudley Square, which will feature a brick and glass extension with "DUDLEY" in giant letters on top.

The long shuttered building will become the new home of the Boston School Department on its upper floors, with stores and community space on the first two floor.

Update, 7:25 p.m.: One track was cleared and limited train service through Ruggles resumed.

Commuter-rail and Amtrak service through Ruggles is stopped as transit and fire officials investigate a fatal train-vs-person collision on the inbound side this evening. The T is describing it as a "trespasser strike."

Dan Esdale reports his outbound train to Franklin stopped, then headed back to South Station.

In the other direction, Craig Herman reports an Amtrak train is just sitting at Forest Hills.

Boston Police report a super vigilant store employee helped them capture two knife-wielding robbers and their getaway driver after a robbery last night.

According to police, two guys dressed in black and with black ski masks over their faces entered South Huntington Convenience, 12 S. Huntington Ave. around 9:30 p.m. yesterday and demanded money:

Boston Police are looking for whoever released a spray that emptied the apartment building at 10 Codman Park around 1:30 a.m. The Boston Fire Department declared a "mass casualty incident" as firefighters, EMTs and a hazmat technician raced to the scene to help 11 coughing residents, possible victims of pepper spray.

Man on bike hit by car, then shot by one of its occupants

Boston Police are looking for a gray hatchback, possibly a Prius or a Mazda 5, for a shooting this afternoon on Harold Street near Homestead Street in Roxbury.

Police say the vehicle may have some scratches on the front from where it hit the bicycle before the shooting.

Police say the victim, 20, was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital and is expected to survive.

Northeastern student gets message about his parking

The Huntington News reports a Northeastern grad student who parked his car overnight in a college parking lot on Columbus Avenue returned the next afternoon to find both his side mirrors ripped off and a note "criticizing his parking and threatening to vandalize the car next time it is improperly parked."

Brockton man charged with 2007 murder of Roxbury teen

Andre McNeil, now 22, was ordered held without bail today on charges he gunned down David Jones as Jones walked home from school on the afternoon of Nov. 14, 2007.

McNeil already has a record for illegal gun possession - he was sentenced to 18 months in jail for an incident more than a year after Jones's death.

The owners of the Ginger Exchange in Inman Square go before the Boston Licensing Board on Wednesday for permission to buy the Savant Project's beer and wine license from the bank that now owns it and turn the 1625 Tremont St. location into a sushi joint that promises to "inject a not-so-subtle element of fun and interest in the pure enjoyment of good food."
