Apparently, Michael Graham thinks a Texas Starbucks franchise was within its rights to fire a woman with dwarfism. Dan Kennedy wants to know just what went down on a Graham segment on 96.9 yesterday for which City Councilor Felix Arroyo was a guest:

Councilor Arroyo, you appeared on Michael Graham's show yesterday while Graham and his fellow guest Rob Eno were making fun of people with dwarfism. What do you have to say about that? Will you be issuing a statement? Will you appear again? Will you demand that WTKK post the audio on its website so that we can judge whether your own comments were appropriate or not? Thank you.

Arroyo responds (in the same discussion):

I was the only who disagreed with the woman being fired because of her dwarfism. I believe Starbucks should have found work she could have performed.Should I be invited, I will appear on the program again. Our democracy depends on deferring opinions in debate. If liberals cede talk radio to conservatives, then only one side gets heard. We can’t allow one ideology to dominate the airwaves.

He adds he wants the station to post a copy of the segment.

WTKK frothmeister Michael Graham got remarried this past weekend. The Globe, which Graham regularly spits at on air, thought that would be a good time to print a column by his ex-wife about her troubles moving on.

Purely coincidental, no doubt: Jennifer Graham herself writes she submitted the piece in August and thought it would run in December.

Dan comes to that conclusion after listening to Jay Severin replacement Michael Graham on WTKK (whose first priority is apparently to hire hookers and bums to re-start the Boston Veterans Day parade):

My snap judgment -- subject to change, of course -- is that he may be among the most unlistenable hosts it's ever been my displeasure to hear. I didn't like Jay Severin, whom Graham replaced; yet Graham comes up considerably short of Severin. ...

No, but wait, he can't be that bad, can he? He's so bad he forces Dan to support Herald columnist Joe Fitzgerald against some Graham tirade - and Kennedy has never liked Fitzgerald (Joe Fitzgerald is not to be confused with Herald business reporter Jay Fitzgerald, who dug up another novel way Graham got himself fired).

The Herald reports that WTKK has replaced non-Pulitzer-winning talk-show host Jay Severin with Michael Graham. Or, as Dan puts it:

WTKK Radio (96.9 FM) has replaced trash-talking, Muslim-bashing afternoon-drive-time host Jay Severin with trash-talking, Muslim-bashing afternoon-drive-time host Michael Graham.

Michael himself puts it this way:

Starting today, the Michael Graham Experience officially arrives at 96.9 FM WTKK in Boston, MA. All I can say is, somebody better buy Ted Kennedy a drink. Quick.

Such refreshing and original irreverence! Why, Howie Carr probably doesn't make a joke like that more than, oh, five or six times a day.
