Mayor Wu today announced an expanded "Open Streets" program in which Newbury Street in the Back Bay will be closed to motor vehicles every Sunday between July 2 and Oct. 15 and five streets in other neighborhoods will be shut to cars and trucks for one-day celebrations. Read more.

A federal judge earlier this month dismissed a lawsuit by six Boston University students over what they claimed was the inferior education they got after the school shifted to online classes as the pandemic erupted in the spring of 2020, in part because there was no way that BU could have foreseen a global pandemic would effectively shut down the entire state. Harvard is following BC's lead and banning students from riding or even just storing scooters and bikes inside its buildings and warning them to de-bike on certain hallowed ground, such as Harvard Yard. The Crimson interviews one of its own sports editors, who is simply aghast, and another student who had her scooter stolen when she was forced to leave it, unlocked, outside.

BU Today is urging students to play it smarter than the kids at UMass Amherst and realize that mixing Gatorade with vodka in a gallon milk jug does not protect you from getting so dead drunk you have to be transported to the hospital.

But if you insist on borging, but you shouldn't, for God's sake don't mix coffee into the swill; that just makes things worse, BU Student Health Services says.

The Boston Licensing Board decides tomorrow whether to let Stillwater owner and chef Sarah Wade open a new restaurant at 197 North Harvard St. in Allston, using the liquor license she would buy from the owner of Our Fathers deli, which closed there in August. Read more.
