Unshoveled space

Rory Nolan doesn't have a car, so doesn't need a parking space. Shortly after 5 p.m., he reported he cleared three spaces in the street:

Seeing how long it takes some1 to take or mark it. Let's go.

Around 7:30, he reported:

Going on 3 hours and it's still open. Difference between Allston and Southie.

In fact, a few minutes later, he updated:

UPDATE, 10:40 p.m.: BFD found no fire or evidence of explosions or giant, freshly opened cocoons at the substation, so departed.

A collection of photos and reports of storrowed or almost storrowed trucks and buses on our river roads this year. Normally, these are just a chance to laugh at illiterates behind the wheel, but this year, of course, saw a bus crash on Soldiers Field Road that sent 33 people to the hospital.

The Century Bank branch at 300 Western Ave. was held up around 2:45 p.m. by a black man with a gun. He wore a gray wool scally cap, a gray sweatshirt and a black wool coat. He was last seen headed on foot towards Cambridge - holding a small, black plastic trash can into which he'd placed his loot.

Raising Cane One Love

Cause of the love lawsuit.

The estate of reggae star Bob Marley is suing Raising Cane's, which has a franchise on Comm. Ave. near BU, for using "One Love" in its marketing efforts.

In a lawsuit filed last week in US District Court in Boston, Fifty-Six Hope Road Music, Ltd., charges Raising Cane's, which is best known for chicken fingers, has nothing to do with the reggae star, who died in 1981.

Fifty-Six Hope Road, based in the Bahamas, is owned by Marley's widow and children. The suit was filed by a law firm in Chelmsford.

The suit notes Marley recorded "One Love" in 1977 and that the song is well known worldwide:

Stuck bus

Alice the roving UHub photographer got a close look at the bus.

Kara Sassone reports a bus with a large Penn State Nittany Lion on the back is the reason so many Storrow Drivers are fuming this rush hour - he managed to get to the BU bridge inbound and then almost got Storrowed there. Or as somebody from the team put it:

So we have been on the road all day..are 400 feet from our last exit and the bus can't get under the last bridge on the interstate.

Alice, who took the photo, reports from the scene:

Large turnout for bridge meeting

Large turnout for Cambridge Street session.

Pedestrian safety, physically separated cycle tracks, and opposition to a proposed fence were front-and-center last night in Allston at a Massachusetts Department of Transportation meeting about the reconstruction of Cambridge Street between Harvard Avenue and Lincoln Street.

More than 150 people attended the meeting, including Allston residents, business owners and transportation experts. Many wore stickers that read "Union Square to the Charles River:" A common theme was that MassDOT and the city of Boston, which both own parts of the road, need to come together on a plan to improve all of the Cambridge Street.

MassDOT is holding another public meeting about the Cambridge street overpass of the Mass Pike.

Mel Allen and Jim Britt broadcast game 1 of the 1948 World Series between the Boston Braves and the Cleveland Indians, with just the touch of casual racism you'd expect for 1948 with teams with names like that.
