State Police report a Waltham man lost control of his Harley-Davidson inbound on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Allston, hit the median barrier and died around 10:30 p.m. on Monday.

Mark Ganong, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene, State Police say.

Double rainbow over Boston

KB had a great view of a double rainbow from the Back Bay this evening.

The Mayor's Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing is considering a request from the new owners of the Silhouette Lounge, 200 Brighton Ave. in Allston, to use one of its rooms as a venue, initially for local musicians and trivia nights, but maybe to one day extend even to comedians. Read more.

The MBTA said today the B Line will be shut between BC and Kenmore starting Monday "to conduct much needed track upgrades while also installing Green Line Train Protection System equipment across the system."

The Harvard Gazette reports a global shortage of helium, caused in large part by sanctions on Russia, which ships much of the world's supply, is beginning to affect research in physics, engineering, chemistry, biology and medical research, all of which use the gas to cool things down to temperatures way, way below freezing. ClearChannel hurls a billboard off the roof

The folks at Gamma Ray Digital on Braintree Street in Allston are getting pretty annoyed at how workers for billboard giant Clear Channel now remove billboard wraps there and hurl them off the roof of a five-story building onto the in-use parking lot below, especially since the building has a working freight elevator.

Warning to bike polo players they're cruising for an Allston bruising

Brad Squirrels discovered some major beef at the Willie O'Ree Community Rink on Western Avenue in Allston between bike polo players and somebody who really, really doesn't like them, a fight that, so far, is playing out in scrawls on the rink's walls.

Bus backing up on Soldiers Field Road

It was close but no cigar for storrowing fans this morning. Ari Ofsevit watched the driver of this bus slowly making his way backwards on Soldiers Field Road this morning after realizing that hey, those "CARS ONLY" signs were actual warnings, not mere suggestions, and that he wasn't going to make it under that bridge up ahead.
