Warning to bike polo players they're cruising for an Allston bruising

Brad Squirrels discovered some major beef at the Willie O'Ree Community Rink on Western Avenue in Allston between bike polo players and somebody who really, really doesn't like them, a fight that, so far, is playing out in scrawls on the rink's walls.

Bus backing up on Soldiers Field Road

It was close but no cigar for storrowing fans this morning. Ari Ofsevit watched the driver of this bus slowly making his way backwards on Soldiers Field Road this morning after realizing that hey, those "CARS ONLY" signs were actual warnings, not mere suggestions, and that he wasn't going to make it under that bridge up ahead.

A Glenville Avenue resident is facing two counts of animal cruelty after police responding to a report from another resident of "loud bangs and a puppy shrieking" found a young pit bull that had a fractured bone in his left hind leg - in addition to other fractures and skin lesions - the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Proposed painted wall at Ringer Park

Arts District Boston is raising funds to redo a decaying wall at the tennis and basketball courts at Ringer Park in Boston with a mural by local artist Jill Rosati. If the group raises $2,000, Allston Village Main Streets will kick in the remaining $2,000 needed for the project.

The developers who proposed a three-building life-sciences complex to replace the current WBZ studios on Soldiers Field Road in Allston this week added plans for a fourth building - a six-story, 85-unit apartment building, with more affordable units than required by the city, as requested by local elected officials. BU announced today that starting March 7:

Face masks will no longer be required in most areas on campus, including dining halls, residential housing common areas, offices, libraries, food courts, and common areas in buildings and colleges. Masks will continue to be required indoors for instructional purposes and lectures in classrooms, the BU Shuttle, all healthcare facilities, and in those venues which are open to the public and host ticketed events.
