Edwin H. Land in "The Long Walk" (1970; directed by Bill Warriner for Polaroid Corporation)

A travelogue of sorts from 1970, narrated by Edwin Land himself, that concludes with him walking us around the plans for a new Polaroid factory in Norwood. Around 12:00, he discusses the future of photography, including cameras that would fit in a pocket, "something like a telephone, that you would use all day long. ... a camera that you would use as often as a pencil, or your eyeglasses" (but still one that spits out everything on film).

By Stop Litter---Yes On 2 in 2014... - 9/20/14 - 7:20 pm

We need to stop litter and keep Massachusetts clean by spreading the word about the Yes on Question 2 campaign.

The Bottle Bill is the most effective recycling tool we have. Eighty percent of bottles covered by the Bottle Bill’s 5-cent deposit are recycled. Yes on Question 2 would add a bottle deposit to water, sports drinks, tea, juices, and other drinks that were not included in the original bill because they were not popular when the law was passed in 1982.

We need your vote on November 4 to update the Bottle Bill.

Abandoned train bridge over Rte. 128 in Waltham

A number of train bridges cross Rte. 128, but as Chris Rich shows us in Waltham, not all are in use. This bridge is part of the Wayside Trail, which could one day become a pedestrian and bicycle path along the right of way of a long unused train line between Boston and Northampton.

Also see Rich's other photos from along the abandoned line.
