Seems somebody's car just up and died while the motorist was trying to cross the Green Line and now the T is busing riders between Washington and Babcock streets, because while a trolley ramming the car out of the way at full speed would be spectacular, it might scratch up the trolley.

But this is Brighton, so one can only stare in amazement at this listing for a $75,000 deeded parking space. Brighton.

Truck on tracks

Why, yes, the B Line is stuck this rush hour because the driver of a U-Haul van somehow managed to get it stuck on the tracks near the BU Bridge. Annie Whitehouse, who captured the moment for posterity, suggests:

U-Haul stuck on the tracks at the BU Bridge is the most Allston thing to ever happen.

At least since the last most Allston thing to ever happen, back in 2015.

Guy paid for parking, still got a ticket

Mike Cauley shows us the $25 ticket he got at 9:33 a.m. today for parking on Comm. Ave. in Allston despite having used the city parking app to pay for parking between 8 a.m. and 10:02 a.m.

15/16 cars had tickets. No checking of payment via the app. Technology should add convenience not be troublesome

"Moderate" delays on the Green Line out to BC due to a trolley that died where B Line trolleys always seem to die - at the curve at Packard's Corner, the MBTA advises.

MassDOT reports that as of 5 a.m., the Commonwealth Avenue bridge over the turnpike is open again and Green Line trolleys are going hither and yon and life is just back to normal and all.

By adamg - 8/13/17 - 1:05 pm

MassDOT reports that the complete re-opening of the Commonwealth Avenue bridge near the BU Bridge has been delayed for several days due to grouting taking longer than expected and the need to hold off pouring some concrete because of recent rains.

Weather permitting, trolley service on the MBTA Green Line B-Branch and private vehicle access to the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge and Boston University Bridge and local roadways will resume by the middle of the upcoming week.

MassDOT reports it's returning the turnpike in Allston to the full four lanes in both directions tomorrow morning, three weeks ahead of schedule.

The news is not quite as good for people who drive on the road above the turnpike - or take the Green Line, though: Work there to replace half of the Commonwealth Avenue bridge will continue through next week.

Commonwealth Avenue bridge work under way

Photographynatalia took a look at the construction work on Comm. Ave. where it crosses the turnpike yesterday as workers begin to replace half the bridge (with the other half to get replaced next year).

If you normally drive/ride over the bridge, how was your commute this morning? Read more.

Jacquelyn Goddard at MassDOT shows us some of the work to replace half the Commonwealth Avenue bridge in front of the BU Bridge over the next three weeks.

Earlier, John McLachlan took a look at where the Green Line used to be:

The long awaited, little anticipated shutdown of the Comm. Ave. bridge began at 9 p.m., affecting motorists, Green Line and bus riders, Worcester Line riders and the braver souls heading to Springfield and Chicago on Amtrak. Boston Magazine runs down the details of the work, which the state says is pretty necessary on account of the bridge falling apart.

Unsettled plate on Commonwealth Avenue bridge

Boston firefighters are at the Comm Ave. bridge inbound over the turnpike and the Worcester Line train tracks, where some large steel plates over a construction zone have settled too much, leading to concern they might give way. MassDOT engineers have been requested to the scene.

Boston University, which has a campus split by the infamously decaying span, has hired a company that sets up cameras to record construction jobs to time-lapse the heck out of the bridge now that the state has begun to replace it (how is the shrunken turnpike under the bridge doing?).

A fed-up citizen files a complaint about some chirping that's been going on since Tuesday - and not by a mockingbird - from a residence on Comm. Ave. between Clarendon and Berkeley:

Every 20 seconds loud chirp from upper front facing unit. Can be heard throughout Commonwealth mall. Keeping everyone and pets up since Tuesday!! Please help!!
