When Hostess used to make Natick smell good

News that Hostess faces liquidation reminds some of us of the old Hostess/Wonder Bread plant on the Natick/Framingham line, which used to make the area smell like fresh bread, and which served as the destination of the post-apocalyptic survivors in a Family Guy episode. In addition to bread and Twinkies, the plant also made Snoballs and Hostess cupcakes.

It was, of course, torn down to make way for the Natick Collection of Precious Things and Condos for People Who Want to Live in a Mall.

The Natick Mall, right? Apparently some MetroWest thieves don't have quite such lofty aspirations: Natick Police report they are looking for a woman who used a credit card stolen out of a car in West Natick to buy some crap at a local 7-Eleven and then have some pizza delivered to an apartment building just over the line in Framingham.

The MetroWest Daily News reports Natick selectmen approved a plan by Tesla Motors to open its first Massachusetts showroom for its battery-powered cars at the Natick Mall. Company officials said they chose Natick because its residents are particularly discerning - and have lots of disposable cash.

Ender's game: Police say chase through four towns ends when driver plows into two cruisers

Wellesley Police report a Watertown man was finally stopped in Brookline after a chase that started on Rte. 9 in Natick early this morning.

Police say that when a Natick officer tried to pull Ender Durgut, 39, over for alleged motor-vehicle infractions around 2:30 a.m. today on Rte. 9 eastbound, Durgut floored it. The officer chased Durgut into Wellesley, where that town's police joined the chase, pursuing him down Rte. 9 into Newton, where the chase was taken over by State Police. State and Brookline Police finally stopped him, but only after he crashed into two cruisers, police say. He was charged with a variety of motor-vehicle and criminal offenses.
