A Globe/Suffolk University poll shows Michelle Wu and Kim Janey opening big leads in the race to get on the November final ballot. The two men in the race both polled in single digits, with one, John Barros, at just 1.8%, so in addition to electing Boston's first mayor of color, voters in November could also elect our first woman mayor. The House Judiciary Committee was scheduled to hold a bitchfest, um, hearing today on a bill, introduced by by state Rep. Daniel Hunt (D-Dorchester) on behalf of one of his constituents, to amend the state disorderly-person law (which also prohibits "common nightwalkers" from making lewd suggestions to passersby) by adding a section making it a crime to call somebody a "bitch." The Dorchester Reporter reports Dan Hunt won the Democratic primary, which means he'll be the next state rep, since there weren't any Republicans signed up to run.

The race to succeed Mayor-Elect Marty Walsh as the 13th Suffolk District State Representative has begun. Boston Police Officer Tony Dang, a Big-Time organizer for Marty Walsh in both the Vietnamese Communities and all of Dorchester in Walsh's triumphant candidacy to become Boston's Mayor succeeding Tom Menino, has entered the race.
