Proposed Voter Choice (IRV) Ballot Question would bring more voices and choices into MA elections

A “Voter Choice” initiative petition turned in to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office on Wednesday would give Massachusetts voters a chance to change to a voting system that lets voters rank their choices instead of voting for only one candidate. The change would apply to key races, including for governor, lieutenant governor, secretary and treasurer, among others, starting after January 2012. Read more

OK, maybe not.

The hypocrites who run MetroWest Medical Center

Sharon Machlis finds it pretty ironic that the for-profit owners of MetroWest Medical Center are howling about Newton-Wellesley Hospital wanting to open an orthopedics center on their turf even as they expand their own physical-therapy services in Milford Regional Medical Center's coverage area:

... Certainly, Framingham Union Hospital is an important employer and service for downtown Framingham. But that still doesn't make it right to ask the government to create a non-compete protected service area for an investor-owned, for-profit corporation. ...

Fratboy Graham gets pinched for moving violation and ...

Every since Michael "Fratboy" Graham got his first fake ID, he's has trouble remembering his birth date. (h/t Swrlygrrl)

It's usually not a problem but "Fratboy" recently got pinched by Framingham Police for [float=right][IMG]http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk143/nfsagan/jail-bars2.gif[/IMG][/float] a "minor" moving violation according to Graham and here's where the story starts to get murky. Graham claims,

"I was pulled over for a minor traffic infraction, and was astonished when the officer informed me that the RMV had revoked my drivers license. I don’t know when and I don’t know why"

[snip]

Massachusetts is the only state in the region–and perhaps in the nation–that refuses to give a heads up to taxpayers that their licenses are about to expire. And, apparently, they don’t bother to inform us when they revoke our driving privileges–or why.

So is "Fratboy" claiming that not renewing your license (by the expiration date listed on your license that coincides with your birthday) is the same thing as a revocation by the RMV (which it isn't) Read more

Making a bread run in Framingham

Michele raves about the baguettes at B&R Artisan Bread, at 151 Cochituate Rd. (Rte. 30 near Rte. 126):

... I will admit that I am a French Bread snob. While Clear Flour in Brookline comes close to those of Paris, B and R's version is even better.
