that convinced the managers at Keolis that there was going to be snow in the forecast. Judging by the cluster that North Station became at the tail end of rush hour, it felt more like the bad old days of February than early May.

"We have two seasons - winter and construction" doesn't just apply to highways. Got this e-mail from Keolis regarding pending track work on the Haverhill line. In summary, riders should expect delays and bustitution.

A Boston lawyer says the T and Keolis owe commuter-rail riders a lot more than just a 15% discount on their Mass passes, so, of course, he's filed a lawsuit.

The suit, filed earlier this week in Middlesex Superior Court by Robert Richardson, seeks to make Raquel Rodriguez, identified as "a resident of the Commonwealth," lead plaintiff in an action seeking not just refunds for January, February and March passholders, but damages as well.

Keolis officials were at North Station this morning thanking commuters for their patience as the company restored all the trains it lost in the snows of February.

Probably just as well they weren't at South Station, where commuters were reporting delays and cancellations on the Providence Line:

Crazy - I'm now an hour and 15 mins behind sched. They cancelled the 6:42 and next train was late, too.

Keolis today released a list of trains it says will start running again on Monday as it works to restore full service by the end of the month. The new trains should bring commuter rail back to about 75% of its pre-snow schedule.

Just got this e-mail from Keolis regarding additional trains:

from the fact you're cancelling trains. Just don't post the cancelled trains on your information board. At least that's what Keolis did this afternoon, as the board at North Station now shows fewer trains, instead of showing the full schedule with the notation "Cancelled" next to those trains they don't run under the "modified winter schedule".

Not sure if I totally approve of the idea, but it might be better if they indicated at the bottom of the board that they are currently running a limited schedule, lest some passengers look at the board and think "I could've sworn there was a train to Beverly at 5:55."

A letter to our MBTA Commuter Rail passengers:

Since the beginning of the year, commuter rail passengers have faced delays, cancellations and overly crowded trains related primarily to weather and mechanical issues on MBTA Commuter Rail. And while the storms we faced were historic, service has deteriorated. Some of you are still experiencing on-time trains, but many of you have not.

the MBTA issues this week couldn't get any more absurd, now they're apparently sending out alerts without verifying the information first.

Just after 7 am this morning, I got an alert that the 7:30 train out of Reading was cancelled. Accordingly, I didn't leave my house until about 7:30, to get to Melrose Highlands in enough time to secure a parking spot and get the 8:00 train. However, as I'm approaching Greenwood Station, what do I see heading inbound but a train on the 7:30's schedule (the one that had been "cancelled" according to the alert).

Keolis Commuter Services Passenger Car Cleaning Program

Keolis, which now runs the local commuter-rail trains, shows some of the work involved in its current program to deep-clean every passenger coach - a process that's taking a three-person crew 24 hours for the average car.

Back Bay commuter-rail lobby

Tristan was impressed with the fresh paint at Back Bay today:

Looks like Keolis did some enspiffening at #BackBay station! Nice change.

Ed. question: How long will the paint remain white in a station that fills with diesel fumes whenever a commuter-rail train pulls in?

Codman Square Update 04 09 14

Rev. Bruce Wall was on BNN's "Codman Square Update" yesterday and discussed the whole Keolis invoice thing, says a) his name was only on the invoice because he was head of a community group aimed at promoting diversity in commuter-rail hiring but that he had nothing to do with its creation or delivery - that's Eugene Rivers's doing - but that b)
