David Garlough reports his neighbor was beaten around 6 p.m. yesterday at High and Green streets by a couple of young teens - maybe 12 to 15 - who also took her purse. He says this is at least the third such attack recently in the area.

He described the suspects as light-skinned Hispanics with close-cropped hair in black track suits and white sneakers and T-shirts.

English and attorney Dennis Quilty today.This time, the celebrichef told the Boston Licensing Board, he really, really means it: Renovations to his fire-ravaged City Square restaurant are nearly complete and he could be ready to welcome diners again in January.

At a hearing this morning, he said he's so confident now he's begun assembling his restaurant staff. Just yesterday, upwards of 180 people stopped by Olives to apply for work, he told board Chairwoman Nicole Murati Ferrer (board member Suzanne Ianella recused herself; board member Milton Wright was absent).

Man gets out of car on Tobin in rush hour, jumps over side of bridge

Witnesses on the upper deck of the Tobin Bridge watched a man get out of his vehicle and jump around 5:30 p.m., according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office.

The State Police Underwater Recovery Unit recovered his body in the water about 30 minutes later, the DA's office says, adding investigators are now working to identify him.

His death comes about 2 1/2 weeks after another man was talked out of jumping after causing a ten-mile inbound backup.

Car fire in the hole in Charlestown

The Boston Fire Department reports a car fire four stories down in a garage at a Charlestown condo filled the garage with smoke.

Firefighters made short work of the fire underneath the Flagship Wharf building, 197 8 St., reported shortly after 1 p.m., but now must ventilate the structure to get rid of the heavy smoke, the department says.

Fire forces evacuation of Charlestown senior-citizen project

The Boston Fire Department reports a small fire at 100 Ferrin St. in Charlestown this morning sent one resident and one firefighter to the hospital for evaluation.

The fire was confined to a single fifth-floor apartment in the six-floor building. The fire activated building sprinklers and several floors sustained water damage, the department says, estimating total damage at $80,000. Two MBTA buses were brought in for the evacuated residents.
