Crab Shack going into Roslindale

Update: Liquor license request approved. Board also granted temporary food-service license so the restaurant can open as soon as it can, without waiting for the state's approval process for the liquor license.

The Boston Licensing Board next week considers plans by the owners of an under-construction crab shack on American Legion Highway in Roslindale to buy the beer and wine license of a defunct Vietnamese place downtown - once again giving Roslindale and Hyde Park diners the choice of three Cajun seafood restaurants. Boston Restaurant Talk reports a chain called Crab du Jour plans to open a restaurant in the America's Food Basket mall on Hyde Park Avenue.

It will be the third Cajun boiled seafood place in the area, joining the Cajun Crab Shack, where Flaming Buffet used to be on American Legion Highway in Roslindale, and Shaking Seafood in Roslindale Square.

Boston Restaurant Talk reports that Salvatore's on Washington Street in Downtown Crossing has shut, to be replaced by a new place called French Quarter.

A city health inspector yesterday ordered Bourbon Street Cafe, inside the Corner Mall in Downtown Crossing, shut after a sprinkler went off because of a small fire, contaminating pretty much everything with non-potable water and leaving "grease and water soils on floors." Read more.

The Boston Licensing Board next week considers a request for food-serving and liquor licenses from Shaking Seafood, which hopes to open on Poplar Street in Roslindale Square, where Jerusalem Trading used to be. Read more.
