Milton Police have posted this photo, taken during a bank robbery on Oct. 20 at the Sovereign Bank branch on Adams Street. Customers were ordered to the floor by the two holdup men, who then pointed guns at the tellers and demanded money.

A “Voter Choice” initiative petition turned in to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office on Wednesday would give Massachusetts voters a chance to change to a voting system that lets voters rank their choices instead of voting for only one candidate. The change would apply to key races, including for governor, lieutenant governor, secretary and treasurer, among others, starting after January 2012.

In Boston, the city celebrated National Night Out by throwing a big party at the Franklin Park Zoo. In Milton, though, they celebrated by having cops dress kids up in flack jackets and helmets and letting them play with machine guns, Mark Baard reports.

A kid in Milton is in a heap of trouble tonight

The one saving grace of the bomb threat called into the principal of the Pierce Middle School today was that it came at the end of the school day. Still, officials promptly called in explosives-sniffing dogs from Boston and Quincy, and Milton police began looking for a culprit - whom they quickly identified as a 13-year-old Pierce student, according to a letter sent to parents tonight by School Superintendent Mary Gormley:

This is unacceptable behavior and a crime and will be dealt with accordingly.

It's treemegeddon as the MBTA hacks away at trees menacing the trolleys on the Mattapan line:

"They really butchered it," said cemetery trustee John O'Toole. "We lost some really mature trees that provided a buffer between the cemetery on Madden Street and the trolley itself." ...

OK, it's manmade snow, but still. Sure looks like they're ready for skiers at the Great Blue Hill.

You can get a really good view of the ski run from Meadow Road in Readville, off the Neponset Valley Parkway (it's the road that goes to what used to be the giant Stop & Shop warehouse) - even if you don't have a zoom lens.
