Curious about a particularly nasty comment about Deval Patrick, the folks at Blue Mass. Group traced its IP address to Tom Reilly's campaign - where a spokesperson blamed an over-eager volunteer.

Hub Politics is liveblogging the Republican state convention in Lowell.

Queen Dee is covering the convention from the Democratic side:

Very good friends of mine are republican and they are heartfelt people who've clearly found something to hold onto in the GOP. I'm curious to see if I'll discover a glimmer of what that is today...

Somebody should educate the Massachusetts Federation of Teachers about the virtues of proofreading.

By adamg - 4/22/06 - 8:32 am

On Blue Mass. Group, Charley on the MTA writes it up.

John Daley zeroes in on Reilly calling out Patrick on his Ameriquest involvement and says he hopes Reilly isn't using his office to dig up dirt on rivals (the Globe has more on Reilly's Ameriquest charges).

The Globe today cautions voters not to judge candidates for governor by their bank accounts. Sco finds that ironic, coming as it does from a newspaper that:

Mass. Marrier analyzes Reilly's energy and economy planks.

The Blue Mass. Group gang snags a 90-minute interview with Chris Gabrieli.

At least when it comes to the deceptive nature of a new Deval Patrick "testimonial" by his campaign co-chair.

David on Blue Mass. Group agrees with Aaron on Hub Politics (who broke the story the Herald picks up today) that the video is deceptive:

... His take is in general a bit harsher than mine, but overall I agree with him.

By adamg - 4/7/06 - 9:01 am

Hub Politics casts a snarky eye on pro-environment Chris Gabrieli's new campaign vehicle, which only gets 10 m.p.g., but which does have "soft-touch captain's chairs:"

... I guess the rest of us have to buy hybrids and pump ethanol while Gabrieli cruises around in a 10mpg powerhouse polluting the air, ripping apart the Ozone layer and contributing to the dreaded global warming ...

Card's from Massachusetts, after all. Dan Kennedy doubts it. But what about for senator?

By adamg - 3/14/06 - 8:49 pm

Kerry Healey wants a board (which the governor would appoint) with the power to remove judges.

Hub Politics: An absolutely great idea ...

Blue Mass. Group: This is a terrible idea ...

By adamg - 3/14/06 - 9:09 am

Ryan Adams didn't like this Adrian Walker column, which called Deval Patrick "squishy" because he didn't provide a lot of policy details at a weekend rally, so he wrote the columnist to complain that Patrick has put some pretty detailed position papers on his Web site. Adams is surprised when Walker writes back. He doesn't like Walker's e-mail, either, but gives him props for responding.

CarPundit says he'll be voting for Kerry Healey in November now that she's chosen Reed Hillman as her running mate. He explains:

... He's not rich, worked his way to success by his brains and his integrity, and brings 100% law and order credibility to any campaign. ...

By adamg - 3/7/06 - 9:50 am

So Kerry Healey's all fretty about Christy Mihos. Should she also be worrying about Steve Mac Millan?

ME AS A REPUBLICAN HOPE TO BRANDISH THE CURRENT REPUBLICANS AND CHANGE A FORMAT INTO SOMETHING DIFFRENT .AND LEAD MASSACHUSETTS INTO THE 2006 AND BEYOND FUTURE FOR THE GREATEST PLACE YOU WANT TO LIVE,AND IT WILL BE DONE I PROMISE,RIGHT NOW ITS IN A SLUMP.to stimulate the ecomomy IS EASY AND YOU WILL SEE.

By adamg - 3/2/06 - 8:47 am

Bill, on Under the Golden Dome, says either Kerry Healey or Republican-playing-Independent Christy Mihos could win this fall if supporters of whoever loses the Democratic primary stay home:

By adamg - 2/27/06 - 5:51 pm

On Hub Politics, Aaron Margolis warns Christy Mihos that if he runs as an independent, Massachusetts is doomed:

... If you put yourself before your party, you will bring your party down with you. If Christy Mihos, a life-long Republican, runs as an independent, he is guilty of putting himself before the party, and he will bring himself down, and take the Republican Party (and the State of Massachusetts) with him. ...

On Blue Mass. Group, David discusses an interesting twist to this year's race for governor:

... Patrick, the first serious African-American candidate for Governor in Massachusetts history, is playing catch-up in garnering support in the African-American community, in part because his white opponent in the Democratic primary has close ties to that overwhelmingly Democratic community through his long-term friendships with two influential African-American Republicans.

By adamg - 2/19/06 - 11:12 pm

Sco: How many times is Joan Vennochi going to write the same column?

... Does she get a kickback for every "Democrats have no message" or "Democrats are reeling" column that she writes? ...

On the Chimes at Midnight, Elias dissects Tubby Harrison, the pollster Vennochi quotes to prove her contention that the Dems are adrift:

By adamg - 2/17/06 - 8:46 am

Is the Democratic state party trying to do to Deval Patrick what it did to Scott Harshbarger? If so, will that be enough to overcome the Mihos factor and get Kerry Healey elected governor?

Mass. Marrier is discouraged, pointing to a recent rules "interpretation" that will make it easier for candidate-come-lately Chris Gabrieli to get on the September ballot as an alternative to the faltering Tom Reilly:

By adamg - 2/15/06 - 10:02 pm

Hub Politics has posted a petition for delegates to the state Republican convention in April to pledge their support for Christy Mihos, so he runs in the Republican primary, rather than as an independent in November. He'd need at least 500 delegates to get on the primary ticket. Should Mihos, at least nominally a Republican, run as an independent, hmm, which party do you think he'd draw more votes away from in the general election?
