The Globe reports; even Democrat Paul Levy kicked in a thousand (granted, the two worked together in health care).

Red Mass. Group reports Charlie Baker could announce tomorrow he'll be running for governor with Senate minority leader Richard Tisei.

Good to know: If you outsource your campaign to lawyers, you can use attorney-client privilege to shield what you're up to from everybody, even the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance. Thanks, Treasurer Tim!

The Outraged Liberal wonders why Tim is wasting money on oppo research when he can just browse the Globe and Herald Web sites each morning.

First, don't drop your multi-page announcement speech on the floor. They have these things called Teleprompters, you know.

Second, don't repeat your critics' charges to rebut them. Remember when Nixon said he wasn't a crook? Right, everybody started thinking he was a crook. So when you bring up charges you "have no core convictions," guess what?

Tim for Governor.

The Herald reports Mihos is still running for governor and the Globe really should stop listening to anything he says, or words to that effect.

Charlie Baker's new campaign site has a folksy video of him standing in a park somewhere explaining why we should vote for him. Only, as the Globe reports, Baker was nowhere near a park while making the video:

It actually was produced by having him stand indoors in front of a green screen and then superimposing the scenery behind him.

Jay Fitzgerald explains why Weld nostalgia won't last very long if Baker insists on running on Big Red coattails.

Elias reports something he eagerly awaits:

[T]he sheer spectacle of watching Scot Lehigh grovel and writhe at Charlie Baker's moderate republican feet, all in a compulsive and disgustingly pathetic bid to ingratiate.

By adamg - 7/8/09 - 11:35 am

The Globe reports that Baker has apparently tired of his perpetual inclusion on lists of "Republicans thinking of running for governor," will quit his job as Harvard-Pilgrom CEO and actually run for governor in 2010. Christy decides it's time for a Big Gulp, then realizes he doesn't sell those.

Channel 5 reports he's becoming an independent as he gears up to run a campaign for governor that could possibly consist solely of whining.

Deval Patrick likes his vacation days. But potential opponent Tim Cahill is like a well-oiled weathervane. The Outraged Liberal says if he has to choose next year, he'll take the well-rested incumbent:

... Conjure up all the stereotypes you want, but the decision by then-House Speaker Sal DiMasi to dispatch Ways and Means Chairman John Rogers and Quincy representative and Cahill friend Ron Mariano to chat with the treasurer has Hollywood overtones. ...

Matthew Webster reports on a pollster who called his house the other night:

Beginning with questions to determine my age, party affiliation, assessment of Governor Patrick’s performance to date, and that I was not employed in newspaper or radio media (God forbid!), the caller read an excessively worded introduction to Charlie Baker’s career in business, his political appointment under former Governor Weld, and even where he went to college (Northwestern). ...

Did Christy Mihos just announce he is running as a Republican for governor in 2010?

By adamg - 3/6/09 - 9:07 am

Gladys Kravitz (yeah, yeah), lists them all.

By Brett - 9/10/08 - 11:24 am

This just in: In a desperate bid to fix her Political Has Been status, Jane Swift is using her position as...something...to bitch about how Obama's being sexist using the whole "like lipstick on a pig" comment. It's surprising that she didn't comment on the "dead fish" remark that followed; she's part Italian!

Sabutai knows something about the gambling issue, living in Middleborough and all, and so wonders why Deval Patrick won't release that casino study:

By adamg - 2/16/07 - 8:44 am

Carpundit, no fan of Deval Patrick, won't criticize him for his Cadillac:

... Is it the Boston Herald creating this controversy, or are state Republicans really trying to use this as an issue? Because the former is rational. The latter is just stupid.
