Court reaffirms public's right to watch jury selection in criminal cases
By adamg - 2/17/10 - 4:20 pmFirst, an admission: When I saw two Supreme Judicial Court decisions came out this morning related to former Stoughton police officer David Cohen, I just tossed the e-mail - I've reached my limit on Stoughton police corruption (hey, Stoughton, WTF?).
Fortunately, Robert Ambrogi has a much higher Stoughton tolerance than I - because, as he writes, one of the decisions reaffirms the right of the public to sit in on jury selection - under the First Amendment for the public and press and the Sixth Amendment for the defendant (and gives Cohen a new trial because the public was actually kicked out of the early stages of his prosecution).
