Brian MacDonald, 26, was sentenced to 7 to 10 years in prison this week for repeatedly stabbing Anthony Spaulding in a New Year's party at Spaulding's Allston apartment at which MacDonald showed up uninvited, then refused to leave, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Prosecutors had asked for 15 to 20 years after MacDonald's conviction on a charge of voluntary manslaughter for Spaulding's 2013 death in Suffolk Superior Court.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted Brian MacDonald, 26, of fatally stabbing Anthony Spaulding during a fight at a New Year's party at Spaulding's Pratt Street apartment on Jan. 1, 2013, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

MacDonald will be sentenced Feb. 26 for his conviction on voluntary manslaughter, the DA's office says, adding the jury will continue its deliberations Monday on an assault-and-battery charge against Bianca Hollenbeck for the same incident.

SpauldingFriends and Cape Cod Today are identifying the man stabbed to death at an Allston party early yesterday as Tony Spaulding, 21, of Harwich.

Spaulding was a student at the New England Institute of of Art in Brookline and had an interest in music production.

Brian MacDonald, 24, of Allston was arraigned in Brighton District Court today on a murder charge and ordered held in lieu of $500,000 bail, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, which provided this account:

5 p.m. update: Boston Police report arresting Brian MacDonald, 24, of Allston, for the murder of Tony Spaulding. MacDonald will be arraigned tomorrow in Brighton District Court.
