Boston Police report they are looking for a man they say failed to break into Quality Market, 140 N. Beacon St. in Brighton, despite bringing a portable propylene torch with which to try to melt the front-door lock. Read more.

The Community Builders has filed plans with the BPDA to replace the 1940s barracks-like apartment buildings at Faneuil Gardens, off Faneuil and North Beacon streets, with five taller buildings that would have apartments for current residents and 183 apartments for new tenants - as well as a new community center and a tree-lined pedestrian "boulevard." The Boston Housing Authority and the Community Builders say they will soon file detailed plans to replace all 258 subsidized units at the Faneuil Gardens development in Brighton with new apartments and to add 212 additional units on top of that. Read more.

IQHQ, which forced musicians out of the Sound Museum space at 155 North Beacon St. so it could put up a three-building life-sciences complex, said today it will give a warehouse just up the street to Boston to create a new home for musician studios. Read more.

IQHQ, a California company that specializes in building life-sciences buildings, is proposing to build three more on a site at 155 North Beacon St. in Brighton now occupied by "an older, non-descript building, nearing the end of its useful life" - and the Sound Museum recording studio. Read more.

The Model Cafe in Allston reports that for the past few weekends, somebody's been going into the restrooms and ripping the soap and towel dispensers and other things off the walls and hiding them above the ceiling tiles. Read more.

The Daily Free Press reports (last item) that a photographer hired to take "professional photos" of food at Yoma Burmese Restaurant in Allston wouldn't let the owner take a look at the shots unless he got paid first, the owner refused to fork over any dough without a look, but the photographer really wanted his money, so he chased a worker into the kitchen, then tried to steal both money and an iPad before jumping into a getaway car.

Around 11 p.m. at 250 North Beacon St., behind the CVS at the corner of North Beacon and Market. The homicide unit was called in due to the severity of his injuries.

Residents evacuate Allston building due to flooding

The city opened the Jackson-Mann School as an emergency shelter after the Boston Fire Department evacuated residents of the ten-story building at 15 N. Beacon St. due to "major" flooding that started on the fifth floor around midnight. Read more.

Transit Police report they are looking for this guy for some major damage they say he did to a T bus on North Beacon Street near Market Street in Brighton around 10:10 a.m. on March 23.
