Looks like the former Parlour Pizza is getting divided into two separate places: A new pizza place called Mangia Neopolitan Pizza and a froyo place called Yogoteria.

The Boston Licensing Board considers a food-serving license for both at 1727 Centre St. at a hearing next week. If approved, West Roxburyans with a yen for froyo won't have to make the trek to the new froyo place opening in Roslindale Square.

Both Mangia and Yogoteria would be open until midnight if the board grants its OK.

Stash's Pizza in Roslindale

Stash's Pizza Co. of Norwood is nearing completion of its first Roslindale outlet, at 330 Belgrade Ave. That's the former home of MJ's, which closed last summer.

Stash's says it serves New York-style pizza.

Its opening will end the pizza gap on Belgrade between Rustica Pizza off Walworth and the pizza district along Centre Street in West Roxbury.

Sameh Alla goes before the Boston Licensing Board on Wednesday for permission to open Rustica Pizza at 146 Belgrade Ave., across from Seven Stars.

Rustica, which already has its sign up, would replace Prime Time Pizza, which replaced Arbri Cafe, which replaced Boston Brickhouse, which replaced Cafe Apollonia.

Alla is seeking hours of 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. for his pizzeria, which would remain the only pizza place on Belgrade Avenue, at least until something happens to the old MJ's near the West Roxbury line.

Boston Restaurant Talk reports Mangia Neopolitan Pizza is looking to move into the space recently vacated by Parlour Pizza, which slightly less recently replaced the Upper Crust franchise on Centre Street.

What could make Mangia different from its predecessors in the space is that, in addition to pizza, it also serves frozen yogurt.

Boston Restaurant Talk reports the Parlour on Centre Street is now an ex-pizza place.

Police are looking for a trio of Hispanic men who held up a pizza deliverer at gunpoint around 9:40 p.m. outside 145 Intervale St. - to which he'd been summoned with a pizza.

After taking his phone, money and the pizza, one of the men drove off in his silver Isuzu Rodeo. The other two then stood there, opened up the pizza box and began eating, as the driver fled to Columbia Road.

"Pretty sure a bunch of places in Allston already have that," Prairie Rose Clayton comments.

Jenna wonders:

Did anyone else get this ridiculously labeled pizza flier in the mail? Are they serious?

The New York Times gets all saucy with its coverage of their new mayor's shocking habit of eating pizza with a fork. The man himself blames his Italian heritage - he says that's just how people in Italy eat pizza - but the story ends with this coda:

Pressed on why a mayor who prides himself on populism would opt for such a technique, Mr. Greinsky shrugged. “He’s from Boston,” Mr. Greinsky said of the mayor. “He doesn’t know any better.”

Patrick Maguire gets fed up with Yelp after reading somebody gave the Lincoln Tavern in South Boston just one star, not because of the food, but because they gave her a pizza to go in a generic box:

Maybe it’s a ruse, or maybe Nikki is just looking for a little attention, but restaurant workers have a right to be frustrated and angry when anonymous dimwits fuck with their livelihood. It’s not funny.

Lion and pizza

Mike reports that when he ordered a pizza from the Randolph Papa Gino's last night, he made a request: "Draw a lion on box, please. Even if cheesy." As you can see, they delivered. He adds:

My one year old saw it and roared. Which was my entire reason for the request.

The Jamaica Plain Gazette reports the pizza chain is making its third attempt to set up shop in JP, this time in Egleston Square.

Even if local activists manage to keep the chain out again, JP residents will still be able to get a pie from the new Domino's that is almost fully armed and operational on Washington Street in Roslindale, mere steps from the Forest Hills frontier.

Hank Layfield reports Domino's is moving into the old BBQ Town on Washington Street in Roslindale, which means the local franchise will finally be free of the loneliness that is that little strip mall down by the West Roxbury Parkway and well away from those activist types in Roslindale Square who managed to block its planned move into a storefront there.

A Little Caesar's is opening on American Legion Highway, one door down from Simco.

It'll be interesting to see how long it lasts. Aside from Domino's, which has been around forever, Boston's more rural districts don't much cotton to chain pizza - anybody remember the Papa John's in West Roxbury? But if it can survive anywhere, American Legion might be it, given that it's turning into the fast-food equivalent of the Auto Mile: Besides the Simco, there's a McDonald's, a KFC, a Popeye's and a Wendy's (oh, and a Dunkin' Donuts).

Village Pizza House of Brookline Village says when it decided to change Web-design firms, it learned the old one had taken control of its domain name and then not only refused to give it up, but changed it to harm the pizza place's business.

Now the pizza place wants a slice out of EIC of New York: It filed a lawsuit in US District Court in Boston yesterday seeking at least $100,000 in damages for the money it says it lost over several years until it finally knuckled under and paid the $500 fee it says EIC demanded to give back the domain.

The Boston Licensing Board holds a hearing next week on plans to convert long empty space at 45 Province St. into a pizza restaurant called Strada 45.

The building's developers got a full-service liquor license from the board in 2008. The board rescinded the license in 2011, but the developers got it back in an appeal to the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission.
