Some Assembly Required reports that when he went into the Medford Square Dunkin' Donuts for some coffee on Saturday, he passed by a woman standing outside, seeming to give a coffee order on her cell phone. And when he got in line, he stood behind a woman repeating back the same order on her phone:

Woburn Police are looking for a guy who apparently made a pit stop at a Dunkin' Donuts before robbing a nearby bank.

Police say the guy wrote out his demand note - for $100 bills - on a Dunkin' Donuts napkin before holding up the TD Bank branch at 280 Montvale Ave. around 10:50 a.m. on May 12. They say he may have been in the Dunkin' Donuts down Montvale before the robbery.

They take pictures of the local Dunkin' Donuts (Here are some New Englanders who stopped on their way to the 2006 World Cup to pose in front of a Dunk's in Gelsenkirchen, Germany).

Sometimes, they even take photos of Dunkin' Donuts knock-offs.

Dunkin' Donuts yesterday filed a federal lawsuit against Panagiotis Vorvis, who owned three Dunkin' franchises in the Back Bay, alleging his wife's Brighton cafe competes with the chain's outlets there.

In the suit, filed in US District Court in Boston, Dunkin' Donuts seeks to have the Dunkin' Donuts name stripped from Vorvis's three shops (53 and 283 Huntington Ave. and 153 Mass. Ave.), which it says he continues to operate even though it terminated his franchise agreements because of Cafe 57 and Grille in Brighton, owned by his wife Eleftheria.

I'm slowly building a database and maps of 24-hour businesses in the Boston area. I'm sadly lacking in the Dunk's department, though, so would be grateful for locations of them, either here or via that last link.

One note on the first link: One of the things I need to figure out is why that page is so slow and what to do about it. For some reason, the page insists on loading the ads first before loading the Google map, which, as you'll see if you click, is annoying.

Thanks!

Ed Coppinger reports:

It seems 3 days a week for the last month or so there has been a candidate for Mayor or Boston City Council shaking hands at one of the Parkway’s hot-spots. Now I can add Candidate for U.S. Senate to that list.

Coppinger posts a photo of Steve Pagliuca looking admiringly at young ward Matt O'Malley, who used to be a regular at Roche Bros. during his runs for city council.

Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly has the details on a case involving a toddler who allegedly got permanent chin and neck scars from a too hot hash brown at a Quincy Dunkin' Donuts.

The paper quoted one lawyer not involved in the case who said the parents could have difficulty with the jury, because who feeds their kid Dunkin' Donuts hash browns for breakfast in the drive-thru lane?

On WBUR's Public Radio Kitchen, Susan McGrory notes the full-frontal assault launched in another Dunkin' Donuts hotbed - Manhattan - by Canadian donut powerhouse Tim Hortons.

Could it happen here? The Canadians are a lot closer than you might think. Take a look at the map below, which shows Tim Hortons outlets in the Providence area. There are even a few just over the border. Unlike Krispy Kreme, Tim Hortons seems a more worthy matchup for our Dunk's - they have a similar menu. If they did try to move into DD's ancestral homeland, though, who would get hurt more? Dunkin' Donuts or Honey Dew Donuts?
