Transit Police report a guy taking up "too many seats" on an Orange Line train refused to yield any of the seats, which another guy tried to solve by whipping out a box cutter as the train pulled into Back Bay and slicing him twice in the chest around 3:30 p.m. Read more.

A medical assistant at the MGH Back Bay Health Center, 388 Commonwealth Ave., who was arrested last week on a charge he raped a patient in an exam room was arrested again today for sexually attacking another patient earlier in the month. Read more.

The BPDA board this afternoon will vote on spending $100,000 for a consultant to recommend ways to turn Dartmouth Street between the BPL main library and the Copley Square park into a permanent mall for pedestrians and bicyclists - with space set aside for a lane for emergency vehicles. Read more.

Back Bay coyote

At one point, he looked behind to see if Animal Control was gaining on him.

Liz Robson had a roadrunner's-eye view for a few hours today of a coyote running around Back Street along Storrow Drive for several hours today, successfully evading Boston Animal Control, which apparently didn't have any fresh paint with which to create a tunnel on the side of the building to stun him. Papa Wheelies Back Bay, which had been selling bicycles at 362 Comm. Ave., at Mass. Ave. since 1992, initially as Back Bay Bicycles, closed last month. Its Wellesley and Portsmouth, NH locations remain open.

Police in Newton and Wellesley report a significant increase in people having their checks stolen by mailbox fishers, even from the newer models designed to prevent such crimes, and are telling residents it's time to drop their mail off at their local post office, rather than using a box on the street, especially if they contain checks. Boston Police report a Lynn man initially arrested on a probation violation will be charged with attacks on three women in separate incidents near Back Bay station on Saturday afternoon.

Wetnsy Louicius, 22, will be charged with robbery and aggravated assault and battery, police say.

A Chinese guitar player studying at Berklee was scheduled for an appearance in Boston federal court today on a charge of stalking for allegedly threatening the student who posted a poster calling for democracy in China, by saying he had reported that student's family to Chinese authorities and hoping the student would get stuck with a needle by an addict at South Bay and then eaten.
