City and state officials today signed a letter of intent with Grand Prix Boston that gets a yearly car race through the streets around the South Boston Convention Center closer to the starting line.
Under the proposal, the private organizers would assume responsibility for all costs associated with the race and agree to return the streets they use to pre-race conditions when they're done.
The first race is scheduled for Labor Day weekend, 2016.
