Proposed Harrison Avenue condos in the South End

A Natick developer has filed plans to turn the Immaculate Conception Church at 771 Harrison Ave. into 63 condominiums to be called the Cosmopolitan.

Unlike the Holy Trinity project on Shawmut Avenue, however, developer Ronald Simons's plans show the exterior of the church remaining largely the same. The proposal does call for roof terraces and skylights. Read more.

The Back Bay Sun has added a reporter, changed its name to the Boston Sun and expanded into the South End and Fenway, neighborhoods, which lost a source of local news when the Boston Courant ended its press run earlier this month.

The paper is owned by the Independent Newspaper Group of Revere, which publishes weekly papers from Lynn to Jamaica Plain, including the Beacon Hill Times.

UPDATE: Barney Fannings has gotten the OK to reopen.

ISD inspectors have shut several restaurants after their sprinkler pipes burst, flooding their kitchens with water and, in some cases, shutting off their water altogether, over the past three days. The tally so far:

The T is advising "moderate" delays into town on the Red Line from Braintree due to a train that just could not make it past Quincy Center, and "minor" delays into town on the Orange Line from Forest Hills, due to a train that ascended to the pearly gates at Mass. Ave.

The Boston Licensing Board today granted a package-store license to Wine Riot for its Web 3.0-enabled wine store at 519 Tremont St.

The board accepted arguments from Tyler Balliet and Morgan First that there was a public need for a shop that caters to users who want to help drive their inventory through app-driven reviews and histories of their own drinking habits, coupled with an emphasis on wine education. Read more.

A two-alarm fire overnight at 39 Greenwich Park extended from the basement to the first floor, Guglielmo reports.

Daniel Pesquera reports a firefighter was taken to the hospital with injuries. No residents were hurt.

Columbus Avenue and Massachusetts Avenue

Firefighters have evacuated the 41-unit 585 Columbus Ave. due to a gas leak that forced the shutoff of the building's heating system on one of the coldest nights of the season.

City officials are now on scene trying to coordinate getting residents into someplace warm for tonight.
