The haz-waste line. Photo by Kevin Davis.

Both groups are left wondering why the city scheduled its fall hazardous-waste collection at the DPW garage there at peak soccer time, given that access to the park is limited to just one narrow road.

On Washington Street just north of the Dedham line. So now parts of West Roxbury don't have water. As of 5:30 p.m., BWSC crews were still on scene working to restore service. At least water wasn't geysering out of the trench onto the street.

UPDATE, 11:15 p.m. Kerry Sweeney reports the water is back, but it's brown.

H/t Tim Sullivan.

Boston Police report a man walking on Washington Street just south of West Roxbury Parkway was shot at around 2:20 a.m., Wednesday.

Police found a bullet hole in his pants, but he suffered only a finger injury, police say, adding officers recovered ballistic evidence on the inbound side of Washington Street, just before the parkway.

Police say a Dodge Charger pulled up in front of him, a man got out, called him by his first name and opened fire. The shooter then got back in the car, which sped away, as the man ran to the Burger King on Washington Street, on the other side of the parkway.
