A developer is floating the idea of buying three parcels near the Sprague Street bridge in Readville for an eight-acre, 600-unit residential complex, just down the street from the 2.7-acre parcel another developer recently bought with plans for 240 apartments.

A three-alarm fire at 11 Ellis St. sent a firefighter to the hospital with chest pains and did an estimated $350,000 in damage, Boston Fire Department reports.

At a meeting earlier this week, officials said that no matter what they do, the neighborhood is at a disadvantage because it's surrounded by suburbanites who use the city as their dumping ground - including a Milton pre-school that was dumping all its trash in the neighborhood.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted Raymond Concepcion of the shooting murder of Nicholas Martinez as he sat in a car stuck in traffic on Southampton Street in 2012, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
Concepcion, just 15 at the time of the murder, was the gunman who got out of another car and fired the fatal shots, prosecutors charged. Read more.
State Police say the driver tried to swerve into the median to avoid the woman. The driver stayed at the scene, State Police say, adding that while no charges have been brought, the crash remains under investigation.
