The Boston Licensing Board has granted full liquor licenses to a proposed Italian restaurant on Fairmount Avenue in Hyde Park and an under-construction bistro on South Street in Roslindale - and voted to let an existing Dominican restaurant on Fairmount Avenue expand from beer and wine to all types of liquor.

A man with three drunk-driving convictions under his belt wandered away from the car he'd just flipped in Stony Brook Reservation, his companion dead inside, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office charges.

West Roxbury District Court Judge Debra Shopteese agreed with prosecutors to set Jeffrey Mason's bail at $500,000 at his arraignment today.

State Police report the woman who died in a rollover on Enneking Parkway in Hyde Park early Saturday was Lillian Grover, 41, of Roslindale.

Apparently the Gov. wasn't kidding. Commuter rail has published the pending weekend service on the Fairmount (Purple/Indigo) Line for the first time ever.

Hyde Park to South Station locals have fought for this for years. I'll be on the first Saturday morning, Nov. 29th train and head to the Haymarket.

Basically, it's hourly service and in some ways better than the existing five-day sked.... Read more

Turtle Pond in Stony Brook Reservation was completely still in the fog this morning. From the dock on the parkway side of the pond, you could barely make out the dock on the other side; the trees there cast a dark gray reflection on the water.

The BRA holds a meeting Wednesday on a $6-million proposal to turn the old Superior Carpet Cleaning building at 1580 River St. into a three-story, 32-unit condo building.

Boston Police report one of the two men found shot at 226 Margaretta Dr. in the Georgetowne development Tuesday night died after being transported to Brigham and Women's Hospital. The other man remains hospitalized.

"At this point the incident appears to be domestic in nature and not a random act," police say.

Shortly after 11 p.m. in an apartment at 226 Margaretta Dr., in a fight involving a woman, her boyfriend and her ex-boyfriend. The victim, one of the two men, was shot in the stomach by the other man. Because of the seriousness of his injuries, the homicide unit was summoned. The Boston Licensing Board today deferred requests that would have allowed a new Italian restaurant on Fairmount Avenue and and let an existing Dominican restaurant expand its alcohol selections.

The board also deferred action on a request for a new all-alcohol license for a proposed restaurant in Roslindale Square.

The Boston Licensing Board next week hears requests from Rincon Caribeno on Fairmount Avenue and a proposed Italian restaurant across the street for all-alcohol licenses.
