Channels 4, 5 and 7 all have reporters along the Scituate seawall this noon hour, reporting on the giant boulders that are all that separate the Scituate lighthouse from certain doom. Channel 7's Nicole Oliverio, though, was the only one standing right on the seawall, and she struggled against the wind to maintain her footing.

UPDATE: NECN also has a reporter at the Scituate seawall.

Gov. Patrick says the state is not currently looking at shutting the MBTA like it did in last February's blizzard, because the snowfall is nowhere near as great.

Still, at the same noon press conference, state Transportation Secretary Rich Davey acknowledged that "the cold usually has significant impact on the MBTA," so any riders tomorrow might have to brace for possible issues.

Both added they could revisit the decision to keep the T running as conditions change later today.

Davey said that Logan is not closing tonight, but that many flights will likely be cancelled tonight and tomorrow.

Massport officials at Logan Airport have just announced that the airport will be closed to planes beginning at 8 PM tonight (2-Jan) and lasting until noon tomorrow (3-Jan) due to the blizzard conditions expected overnight.

Multiple airlines are already waiving flight change fees in order to allow customers to fly today instead of tomorrow. People are being asked to contact their airlines directly to determine if the closure effects their flights.

We raised the French Toast Alert to orange this morning after learning that the Weatherman of Doom, yes, Jim Cantore, was flying up to Boston and that the National Weather Service was getting all caps on the near-blizzard like conditions we could expect.

The NWS has issued a winter storm warning that starts at 4 a.m., Thursday and runs through 10 a.m. on Friday:
