City councilors gather for late-night meeting
By adamg on Tue, 06/08/2010 - 10:43pm
They called a meeting at 10:30 p.m. tonight. No immediate word on what could fire them up like that. One presumes it's one of those "emergency" meetings to get around the 48-hour notice otherwise required under the state open-meeting law.

Tonight is an informational
Tonight is an informational meeting, vote still on for tomorrow. Sources tell me the truth prevailed!!!

what the hell does that even
what the hell does that even mean, because you're posting it all over the city
Truth
It means that the Council is meeting in an Informational mode and that Local 718 prevailed.
Really? Firefighters agreed
Really?
Doesn't sound like they "prevailed." Sounds like Menino wins this one.
Agreed- good news for the libraries!
We shouldn't have to close any now- right? Or maybe homeowners will share in the savings through a tax break next year....
Informational meeting?
That's nice, a shame they didn't let the public know (I gather reporters were informed roughly 20 minutes before the start time).
I realize councilors have a longstanding hatred of the open meeting law, but until they convince the legislature to change it, well, it's still the law.
To be more charitable, one could argue the whole firefighter contract thing (I assume that's what they're talking about, rather than, say, basement flooding in Hyde Park) is a rapidly developing situation, but they did have a meeting scheduled for tomorrow, one the public (in particular those pesky firefighters in red shirts) knew about.
That meeting is still on.
That meeting is still on. They will vote tomorrow at noon. My unbiased opinion (tongue in cheek there) is that the councilors who sat in on the "negotiations" are going to tell the others how full of crap the administration is.

Technically, part of a posted meeting
