Maybe this explains why somebody is intent on building a Comfort Inn on South Huntington Avenue: Chicago's version of the Metro is sponsoring a bar-crawl contest, the winner of which gets "all-expenses paid trip to Boston to tour the Sam Adams brewery."

Weird fact: The Brewery is
Weird fact: The Brewery is literally one block from that shooting. There are tourists wandering around over there all the time--but walking from Green or Stonybrook so they are none the wiser that there is any heat just a block away b/c they never walk through it. That block of Boylston between Washington and Amory stinks--and my bet would be that less than 12 individuals are responsible for all of it.

I live a few blocks away from
I live a few blocks away from the brewery (toward the sketchier part of town on the other side of Washington Street), and it amuses me endlessly to walk through there on a Saturday morning, as opposed to walking to the T to get to work any weekday morning. Preppy white kids as far as the eye can see on brewery tour days! Not so much on Thursday afternoons, when the place has a totally different feel.
Though, to anon's point, it's really never felt like a bad neighborhood--my wife and I are both OK walking home late at night, and there's a ton of neighborhood pride. My guess is yeah, it's just a handful of assholes ruining it for everyone else. Hope BPD makes some progress on this soon...

That's a new word to me. Where are they from, Chiago? Is that big enough to have a "Metro"? A Metro on rails, or one on paper??
Or are they so drunk they can't spell?
