Oh, yeah, wasn't there some guy running for mayor who had a proposal for this sort of thing?

Globe: City repair shop found in complete disarray - Study finds ineptitude, infighting, and waste.

Hmm, whatever happened to Sam Yoon?

Meanwhile, the city has appointed some guy to try to clean up the garage.

I still don't understand why anyone who isn't on Menino's payroll voted for him. Yoon had a slew of great ideas, a degree in city planning, vs. Menino , an ex insurance salesman, was same old same old, and refuses to institute good ideas like this, or 311, etc. simply because he didnt think of it. The other city with a Mayor for Life system, Chicago, finally has a chance for new blood. When do we?

Well, if he had a degree in city planning - that changes everything!

Apparently, they didn't teach him to show up for hearings at that temple of learning he graduated from. At the end of his first year, when it was time to start voting on different issues Sammy wanted to top the process because he didn't know what they were talking about. Seems he didn't show up for any of the hearings where the topics were discussed. Where was he? Planning his run for Mayor. With his degree in his pocket.

Sammy loved Boston so much that as soon as he lost his Mayor's run, he left town. Apparently, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

...it was made clear he would _never_ get a job in Boston.

The parent poster was referring to the fact that Menino most likely blacklisted him.

I suspect any entity thinking about hiring Yoon would have gotten a phone call (or two) indicating that hiring him would not go over well with you know who (and that there would be "consequences")...

Seen it happen elsewhere (to an immediate family member -- who bucked the municipal establishment -- and became the equivalent of toxic waste to all potential local employers). Some job offers got rescinded (a day or 2 after being made). No reason to believe things wouldn't work the same way in this town, under this municipal administration.

This under a mayor who calls himself an "urban mechanic." Typical.

I am waiting and keeping the political porch light on for after this election. That's when I think the many other shoes will drop as a result of Dianne Wilkerson's talking to the FBI. I think about lotsa chickens coming home to roost round City Hall.
