Transit Police say they have racist attacker in custody

Daniel Jourdet, 52, of Lynn will be arraigned tomorrow on charges he's the guy captured on video yelling racial epithets at an MBTA worker before smashing him in the head on April 1 at the Copley Square stop on the Green Line.
MBTA Transit Police arrested Jourdet today on charges of violating the T worker's civil rights, assault and battery, trespassing and disorderly conduct. He's scheduled for arraignment tomorrow in Boston Municipal Court; in the meantime, he's being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Innocent, etc.

Bail set at $10,000
Prosecutors had sought $50,000 because the guy has an open charge in East Boston District Court and convictions in at least three other states. The Suffolk County DA's office explains the fight at the fare gate:
He may be given a stay at the Massachusetts Alcohol and Substance Abuse Clinic at Bridgewater, if the clinic agrees to take him, the DA's office says.
Who IS this dude...?
Whenever I see a story like this...an individual acting non-human...I want to hear about the dude behind the story.
This must be an individual that lives on the fringes of society. He's from Lynn, right? But he's drunk in downtown Boston in the middle of the day?
What kind of person, at his age, doesn't know what is appropriate behavior, and what is not.
Again, I would like to know more about this individual's life and background, to find out how he got so deranged.
Props to the transit cops
for tracking this guy down and busting him.
