Who would you pick in a fight: A cop or a firefighter?

You can find out tonight when Boston Police officer Billy Traft (former New England Gold Glove Champ 2005 and 2006) takes on Framingham firefighter Adam Quint (New England Gold Glove Champ 2004) in the title bout in an 11-fight "Battle of the Badges" card to benefit a group trying to reduce teen driving accidents. Starts at 7 p.m. at the Boston Athletic Club, 653 Summer St. More details

I'd assume that the fireman would win. I don't think being proficient with golf gloves has much to do with fighting. It's a rather genteel sport.

For a change, I can't take credit for that - I just copied and pasted from the BPD site :-).

It makes me think of him slapping the other with the golf glove, as if challenging to a duel.

Yeah, and I thought my comment was kind of dumb, too. It actually sounds as if it's a fun pair-up. We need fun stuff like this. (Well, unless you hate the idea of guys punching each other.)

Based on the amount of time you have to come on here and spout blithering bullshit about cops and fireman, who in this case are doing something positive, ALL from the safety of your mother's basement, I'd say you're probably both.

Do you shit daisies? If the answer is anything other than yes, then take a good look in the mirror and shut your mouth. Your act is old hat. Get a life.

Blah. Blah. Blah. That about covers all the stupid replies you're going to post after mine. Lots of untrue facts about police and fire departments everywhere.

Hey Brett, here's one single email's subjects from a international firefighter's blog called [email protected]. They are sent out pretty much daily:

1. The pilot of a aerial water tanker died in a crash near Miramichi, N.B., (Canada) on Friday. The aircraft, operated by Forest Protection Ltd., crashed shortly after taking off from Miramichi Airport just before 1400 hours.
2. 2 Firefighters were hurt while operating in a house fire northwest of O'Neill, Nebraska today.

The blog also points out the NIOSH reports published this week:

1. Fire Lieutenant dies following floor collapse into basement fire and fire fighter dies attempting to rescue the lieutenant - New York
2. Eight fire fighters injured in a natural gas explosion at a strip mall - Maryland
3. (Houston) Probationary fire fighter and captain die as a result of rapid fire progression in a wind-driven residential structure fire. HFD has lost 7 Firefighters in the Line of Duty inside burning buildings since 2000, all of them members of the first arriving companies on the scene.
4. Fire Lieutenant dies and three fire fighters are injured in ladder truck crash - Massachusetts
5. Fire chief and fire fighter killed when a wildland engine plummeted from a fire-damaged wooden bridge into a dry creek bed - Colorado
6. Two fire fighters seriously injured during swiftwater rescue training at a low-head dam - Ohio
7. Fire fighter suffers cardiac death following structural fire suppression
8. Lieutenant suffers sudden cardiac death at scene of a brush fire
9. Deputy fire chief suffers sudden cardiac arrest about one hour after conducting an inspection

Enough said.

Sorry guys, but that was kind of funny - at least I took it as a joke and not a jaded-sarcastic answer...

Is the match being decided by binding arbitration?
